She's governor of "our largest state."
BS. Largest state by size but Alaska's largest city (Anchorage) is less cosmopolitan than Albuquerque. There are small planes parked EVERYWHERE because people have to fly to get around all the people-less space.

The choice of Palin means that McCain faces two major tasks in the few days remaining: turning Palin into Joan of Arc and diminishing Barack Obama.

Here's what to listen for from his handlers about Project Joan of Arc:

• Keep declaring, as McCain already has, that she's governor of "our largest state."

• Equate 18 months of administering a state National Guard to George Patton and his tanks rolling toward Berlin.

• Turn her very personal decision about having a Down syndrome baby into a public cause.

• Make her pragmatic decision to oppose the doomed "Bridge to Nowhere" seem like a profile in courage (she supported it right up until the state couldn't provide its share of the cost).

• Reinforce evangelicals' persuasion that being "right" on their issues makes her right about everything else.

• Compare her experience with Obama's, not her vice presidential counterpart's, so that Obama seems smaller and McCain seems to be running against nobody.

And here is what to listen for about Project Diminish Obama:

• Overall, as Obama suggested they would, make a very big election about small things, such as his birthplace, whether he attended a Muslim school, his mother's hippieness, his middle name.

• Keep saying that nobody knows what Obama means by change, when he's laid out his plans in detail.

• Paint Obama as elitist and distant, as if neither he nor American voters learned anything about each other during the 18-month very public slog through the Democratic primaries.

• Turn his obvious political ambition and careful, long-term planning into a negative, as if American presidents always, and properly, simply emerge from nowhere with no real interest in being president.

It's going to be a very long two months.

3. Yeah, but moose don't vote
and they certainly wouldn't vote for her.

FWIW, the county in which I live has twice the population as her state.

12. Dems make the mistake of allowing the Repubs frame the issues.
Dems find themselves defending instead of framing the issues. This is one reason Dems often lose elections.Gov. Palin is a RWing loon but the RWing & the so called religious RW are proclaiming her as Joan of Arc, reincarnated.
