Sincere questions -- I really don't know the whole story. All I know is that "they" have an adopted daughter from Bangladesh. If Cindy adopted her before she was married to John McCain, then she would be his stepdaughter -- right? Unless he adopted her, too.

If Cindy and John were already married when the daughter was adopted, then she wouldn't be John's "stepdaughter", she'd just be his daughter.
