Should Bristol Palin be FORCED into a Shot Gun Wedding with her Hockey Star Lover?
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 05:48 PM by KoKo01
Isn't this back to the 50's kind of stuff where the Palins force their daughter to marry this guy...just because there's a baby?

So many young, indipendent females these days have their baby and care for it on their own...who needs men...and "shot gun weddings."

I feel bad that her Mom is forcing her to marry this guy just because she's a VEEP Candidate.

What happened to Women's Rights to raise their babies on their own without being forced into some "subjugation" to marry the guy?

2. No woman -- or man -- should ever be forced....
into a marriage. A successfil marriage is tough enough without adding "forced" into the mix. :(

3. According to Levi's mother, they were planning on getting married even
before she got pregnant.

He's en route to join them at the convention. (There's a thread on it -- LBN or GDP, not sure.)

9. Maybe that's true...maybe not... Couldn't RNC pay off this guy? Sports Jock? Contracts?
That's the way it works in America, today. Pay the kid off with something he never dreamed of...

Hey...at that age he says..OKAY...COOL! So what if I have to spend a few months with her...after all I got good stuff out of this and so did Bristol. We are both Okay with this...it's an OPPORTUNITY! That's the way folks think at that age in this time..in our culture...but not the first time anyone has "grabbed for the gold" when they had the "opportunity," either. It just is what it is..

He's a cool looking kid. I'll bet there will be blogs rooting for Bristol and Levi to make it. People Mag and the "youth shows" will make it a cause. Levi's website about how he's a "RedNeck" is already getting huge hits.

Those two might end up with Donald Trump giving them a mansion in Florida when Levi get's his big Hockey Contract in the USA...maybe with the "Cains" in NC...?

10. If they were "planning on getting married" then why wait for 5 months and her Mother get's Nominated
for VEEP before they announce it.. Does that make sense to you?

18. Who knows?
I've knew a girl in school who got married right away, and another one that didn't get married until after she had her baby. So people make different decisions than I might make. Even though I'm convinced they should think just as I do. :7

19. If there's "Money" in it for him...he's a kid...why shouldn't he use that Opportunity
to advance himself? Lots of families are faced with this and Independent Women...manage to achieve on their own. Sounds like Levi is caught up in something way beyond what he thought...but in America Today...one can PROFIT from being the father High Powered American Candidates position...that she wants her daughter to look good.

20. Bristol and Levi are both seniors this year
Wonderful idea getting married. :sarcasm:

And one wacky excuse I read today is kids grow up faster in Alaska - damn, now I know why I watched several episodes of "Tougher in Alaska".

Sure there are some who get married young and make it a success. But I think that is a minority!

11. Links have been posted all over DU about this...you've been here long enough
to do your own Google of it..."DU Google" up there in the right hand corner. Search, yourself. Everyone here already knows about McCains Campaign statement that Bristol is five months pregnant but the couple intend to marry. Are they waiting until the DELIVERY to MARRY? You think that Bristol didn't tell the guy...and he got "cold feet" until he thought he could make some $$$$$$$$$$$$'s off Bristol's mom being the future VEEP of AMERICA? :eyes:

17. Yeah..but the minute Bristol found out...why didn't he step forward..until now?
I think Bristol as an Independent female should be allowed to raise that baby on her own and not be "forced" into a marriage just because it's CONVENIENT...that her MOM is VEEP Candidate?

I'm all for Bristol to raise that baby on her own. So many young women and starlets do it these days...and she WILL SURVIVE... She's gotta take a stand.

22. Independent 'woman'. I just don't feel comfortable going after the kid. SP's cutting funding...
for social programs that help women like this, and belonging to an outfit that opposes abortion AND birth control is fair game. I'm not going after either of the kids on this one.
