"We're taking off our party hats and putting on our American hats."
So apparently after 8 years they've been putting party first all this time and NOW they want to put that aside to join the rest of us?

Hmmm...

2. It is interesting to note that being American...
is just a hat to them, one that they don't wear most of the time - preferring the partisan Republican Ass Hat.

10. Ha! You beat me to the asshat comment.
And it seems they just crammed their We-Give-A-SH!T-About-America beanies on OVER their GOP skull caps b/c this whole thing REEKS of photo-op.

Not to mention, their fervent hope that both Failin and McMansion can get away without having their speeches compared to Obama's. They'll just speak "off the cuff" while they are busy filling sandbags and hoping to look like "heroes". :puke:

3. They are now distancing themselves from "Republican" just like they are avoiding Bush/Cheney.
I think the Republicans are in true disarray.

8. Democrats do NOT have to change hats...
to be Compassionate, Liberal or Patriotic. This is simple fact. Republicans have occasional, deliberate, pretend outbursts of humanity.

11. That's a stupid quote because it basically implies they were never putting their country first.
What I find so funny about McCain's new tagline "Country First" is that it sounds like it was ripped out of Obama's acceptance speech and just falls neatly into Obama's trap. Obama said, "We ALL put our country first." This basically illustrates what's wrong with the Republicans so neatly.

15. It's time for the country to realize...
that the Republican Party is just a stupid cartoon show. And it's gone into reruns.

18. I think it's pretty clear that "Country" barely crossed their minds during the last 8 years. nm

16. Unfortunately millions of people..
watched Obama speak. Neither the media nor insane McCain can spin that away. Temperament and Judgment vs. Desperation and a sales pitch.

17. Yeah, they surely adapted a bipartisan spirit for 8 years - especially...
through the 850+ signing statements and Karl Rove.
