It's all so easy, don't panic
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 03:33 AM by MichaelHarris
If they have a Vice Presidential debate where you can write in questions just tell all of your friends to write in this question for Palin. "Do you support the Equal Rights Amendment?" It's that simple. If she says yes then conservatives will run away in droves. If she says no then ask, "can we pay you less?"

Some of the organizations that support her are vehemently opposed to the ERA, make her go on public record as to where she stands. Just a sampling of quotes from Yahoo on the ERA:

CONSERVatives want the government to protect and even subsidize institutions -- for the sake of social stability -- including corporations, marriage and all social institutions. The ERA was seen as a threat to such institutions and therefore, social stability.

They hate womens lib and wanted the status quo of a woman staying in the home cooking, cleaning, and popping out kids. Nevermind that most married women have to work now a days to help support the family...and they make 80% of what a man with a comparable education and skill set does and that's completely acceptable to society.

Because it goes against their twisted belief that women are inferior to men. There are still fanatics that believe the hierarchical structure is God, man, woman, children, animals, trees, rocks and dirt.

3. Good on ya.
Good sense does tend to get hounded off the "latest" page quick. The sooner items get chased off, the more worthwhile they tend to be. Damn shame.

4. I live nine
miles from where Palin graduated from and I can say with all honesty they really dislike her as a VP. If she does come back to Moscow, ID. during the campaign it will make for some nice photography. You still shooting with those Tokinas? They've almost replaced my Nikon glass.

5. Tokinas rool.
Thinking of getting one or two more. The Tokina 100mm macro I got recently is a brilliant piece of kit, barely explored yet. Built, unsurprisingly, rock-solid.

11. I used the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-R1 for my shots from the convention.

No fancy lenses, though. Just the Carl Zeiss in the camera. The resolution doesn't show in the posts so much, because I had to reduce them to 500 pixels width to get them into the Denver Journal front page format.

13. The Zeiss
lenses on those Sony's are amazing. Sony was one of the first to start using a quality lenses designers for its digitals. Now you have a Panasonic/Leica collaboration, a Samsung/Schneider-Kreuznach, and on some Kodaks a Kodak/Schneider-Kreuznach collaboration. I'm pretty sure Sony started it all and it has done wonders for digital cameras.

18. Yes, I believe your are correct.
And it is amazing. I was so scared of scratching it in Denver, I missed a few shots because I kept putting the lens cap back on after almost every shot.

22. Leica Digilux 2 user here, when there's time. Panasonic Lumix otherwise.
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 05:08 AM by Ghost Dog
I find my partner's Cybershot Zeiss lens almost as good as the Lumix DMC-LX2's Leica. And I must say the new Leica digitals are most tempting.

Fine photo in the OP there. Really sinister. Is the father the father?

7. "can we pay you less?"
And she will say she will accept what the market will bear, blah, blah, blah.

That question would be a zinger, but not one without an answer from her.

I think her downfall will be how the locals feel about her.

Someone who lived in the town she was mayor of posted something today about how bad she was.

I think we need to consolidate all the bad crap about her specifically and link it to all the long-term issues and scandals/crimes of the Bush administration.

I'm not saying people shouldn't discuss the other stuff; I'm just saying more the merrier.

Unless you've got a follow-up!?

my follow up or alternative is to ask, "why continue giving Alaskans oil incentive checks when the money could be put into a fund that would give every Alaskan free health care? If, as Governor you are serious about weening your state from the federal dollar wouldn't this oil money aid your state gets do just that?"

Now of course she doesn't want to answer that, Alaskans love the free money, for the most part don't care about someone else's sick kids, and it's a very unpopular move. The reason for asking it? It shows conservatives from everywhere else in the country that she doesn't care about them. She will take their tax dollars to fund health care in her state while ignoring a viable alternative.

16. I meant to the ERA question. Do you have a follow up for ...
"Do you support the Equal Rights Amendment?"

and

"can we pay you less?"

A follow up to those questions.

17. I know
I was dodging it :) The, "Can we pay you less" on it's face seems silly but, as it appears to be, she doesn't support the ERA based upon her affiliations. I think my follow ups would involve the equal pay/equal rights and why she doesn't feel they need supporting. Basically, you get down to what she really hates. In doing that you have the possibility of her showing her true hatred for the institutions that would benefit from the ERA.

In summation I think my follow up would be, "what examples would you give as as to why you don't support the ERA? What damage would be done to America if it passed?"

23. If you want to splinter her from the conservative base you ask her why she supports Alaskan socialis...
via the state constitution the people of the state own the mineral rights and the state leases them out to the oil/gas companies.

The profits of those leases are distributed via check. about 3300 for every man woman and child a year.

the right wing hates stuff like that. The mineral rights should be bought and sold to the higest bidder the market can demand accoring to them.
