Hurricane Gustav and Global Warming - Fewer But Stronger Hurricanes?
I wonder as we watch the development of Hurricane Gustav, what is the latest on the relationship between global warming and the frequency and strength of Hurricanes. The latest I have found is that global warming may lead to a decrease in hurricanes, but those that occur will be much stronger:

The simulations show that if they do form, hurricanes become stronger in the warmer environments. Together, these results suggest that in a global warming world, there would be less hurricanes, but those that do form could become stronger. The same prediction has recently been made by other studies using global climate models, and the similarity of the two predictions enhances confidence in the results.

Of course, to tie it to politics, the fact that the Republican tickets has a person who still doubts global warming, perhaps raises quetions regarding whether McCain will be committed to addressing climate change.
