Sweet Lincoln's Mullet! The Sarah Palin Sportscast Video Is Here
Sorry to barge in on your holiday weekend — for God's sake, put on some pants — but I just got back from he movies and found this great video in a basket on my doorstep. It's the one we've all been waiting for, a gift from the cold, desolate North: A sportscast featuring presumptive Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin! Boom goes the dynamite, following the jump.

The year was 1988. The Redskins beat the Broncos 42-10 in the Super Bowl. The film Gorillas in the Mist teaches us how to love once again. George H.W. Bush chooses Dan Quayle as his Vice Presidential running mate. And at KTUU-TV in Anchorage, Alaska, a plucky 24-year-old sports broadcaster named Sarah Heath is giving Knicks highlights and making snide remarks about Tommy Lasorda. Do not be frightened by her large hair: Everyone was wearing it like that then. Even the men.

But OMG, does she have the most annoying voice on earth, or what! Like nails dragged across a chalkboard. I'm sick of hearing it already.

Just what we need, a talking-head-trained mediocrity in the WH. I'm glad she wasn't busy setting the world on fire as a brilliant student, or anything. So much more "accessible" this way, as in the "beer buddy" sense, dontcha think?

Just makes ya wanna go out and shoot a moose with her, doesn't it?

Can't wait to hear KO's comments on this angle.

8. Oh, he's loving this already.
He was rhapsodizing over learning the fact that she wanted to be on ESPN someday. Even making jokes that she must have changed her mind when she learned that working for ESPN would mean moving to Bristol, Connecticut (which he hated because it was a small town in the middle of suburbia and he can't drive, and everyone else there was married with kids--hence he had no social life).

He even joked that she must have named her daughter Bristol for that reason (although she's actually named for the Bristol River).

4. and her quite advanced pregnancy was not hidden by the desk
her son was born in 1989, so she must not have even been "7 months" at that point

6. Good god~

That brought back alot of bad memories. I lived in Alaska 76-96, left because of cold dreary weather, no opportunities ( unless you worked for the state, city, or oil industry). I WATCHED ktuu! I though she looked familiar. I can't remember names, but I remember faces. BTW, I live in Arizona now so this even weirder. You can't run away!!!

7. 1988: Obama was elected editor of the Harvard Law Review
and Sen. Biden chaired the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

Just sayin'.
