Hey grownups ..... do you remember going for that first job ...... ?
.... and puffing up your resume in an attempt to make a stint on the school's autumn leaf raking volunteer team look like something?

That's what we got .....

1. Those glasses look like a stage prop - the lens do not magnify her eyes at all
The way prescription or corrective lenses wold. I'll bet she wears them to seem more intellectual.

And what is with that 1960s beehive? Reminds me of this book:

12. I'm sorry, but she reminds me of nothing more than a second rate porn star ....
... in that awful, stereotypical "librarian-as-vamp" sequence with the fake eyeglasses and hair pinned up. How many times has it been replayed, even in farce, that she takes off the glasses, un-pins the hair, and unbuttons the blouse as she succumbs to the 'charms' of one of Clarence Thomas's heroes???

It's appalling.

15. Maybe that's the point
Not the appalling part, but rather the subliminal image the 'pukes are trying to evoke in male voters' minds.

It's the epitome of cynicism.

18. I don't think they can think any other way than objectification ... 'types'.
I think the fascist right is totally embedded in such attitudes... human labor as a commodity and women as chattel and children as political cannon fodder. Character and integrity and authenticity and empathy and compassion and respect are just slogans to some people ... not the very core of their outlook.

14. My eyes are one fairly nearsighted and one slightly farsighted.
Neither eye looks particularly distorted in pictures.

The correction has to be quite strong before it really shows, strong enough where you are damn near blind without the glasses.

At 44 those could be smooth bifocals too.. I've been wearing them since about that age.

3. I call it the tyranny of mediocrity.
Or perhaps it's even the "soft bigotry of low expectations."

It's almost like a reality TV show. A totally unqualified person is catapulted into the seat of power. Can she do it?

Like "So you think you can dance?"

4. I almost feel sorry for her.
She's going to get destroyed. She is so **monumentally** insubstantial.

She knows her role. She's the magnet for incoming. People will focus on her shortcomings and McC. can rise above.

10. She did a great job as mayor
A town of - what? - 9,000, or a few less, and she left it $20,000,000 in debt.

George W. Bush must think she's the bee's knees.
