Sarah Palin radio rant is the perfect situation to call for the return of the Fairness Doctrin
A partisan elected official that supports the editorial position of broadcast media is certainly in a commanding position. In Sarah Palin's case, two professional radio personalities covered her dirty work will she laughed (a tacit if not literal approval) at their attack on a political adversary. Her conduct is like the person at the side of a mob that lacks the will to fully participate in a beating/killing but encourages and laughs while the beating or killing takes place. Her conduct and the acceptance of it by her or any other elected official is more a cancer on our society than any debate opponent.

The Fairness Doctrine would have allowed the opponent to be notified about the attack beforehand and offered equal time to rebut. However, how to you rebut "being a cancer" and a "b*tch"

The fact that Palin would allow this ranting to go on while she laughed is certainly revealing about our would-be Vice President. With George W Bush and Dick Cheney lowering the standards of conduct to the levels of Jr High School Boys at play it's very easy to allow oneself to get the idea that America accepts the behavior. I hope not, but then I didn't learn my public social mores from Yale and Harvard like the current executive.
