Storm Update: Gustav
by DarkSyde
Thu Aug 28, 2008 at 08:57:31 AM PDT
Tropical Storm Gustav has regained near hurricane strength this morning and may poses a threat to the US and Mexico next week. There is a lot of uncertainty and always a chance the storm will fizzle out or move away from populated areas. But an educated guess based on current data suggests something like a 50/50 chance that Gustav could make landfall early next week as a hurricane somewhere on the US Gulf Coast.

1. Am I the only person who is not getting any form of glee over this?
A major storm may hit an unprepared city. I'd rather see the repugs have the bestest convention ever than NOLA and the region to go through that again.

This is a warning post, Whether you believe in the power of prayer or not
The Fundies prayed for Rain
Sadly in typical Fundie Repuke Fashion, their prayers bring disastrous consequences.

I am praying for the people Of the Gulf they can't handle another Hit!

10. Having survived Katrina and still having PTSD issues
and now facing the fears of this thing, no, you aren't the only one that is missing the humor or the glee.

God help us, the MS and LA coasts cannot afford more heartache and destruction.

8. Question for you
Why are we even considering that the "power of prayer" is even at work here? I mean really now, the idea that vague mutterings and entreaties directed at some vague supernatural entity will somehow effect the numberous variables that go into making a hurricane is ludicrous on the face of it. Rather than give credence to these pious mutterings, one should simply point and laugh instead.

11. Answer for you I don't believe in Coincidence
I understand we are in Hurricane Season
All the more reason praying for Torrential rains was ignorant thing to do.
And lets face it, Had it rained in Mile High stadium tonight the FUNDIES would take credit for it
saying that GOD Answer their prayers.

It certainly appears that he did, just not they way they planned or hoped for.
Is Gustav a Russian Name?

13. So you really do think that vague mutterings to a mythical deity
Actually effects the temperature of the ocean, the wind direction and speed, the rotation, the other weather fronts in the neighborhood, etc. etc., all those myriad things that go into making up a hurricane and the path it takes? OooooK then. I guess you and RW fundies have a lot in common, since they believe in the same nonsense. And the fact that you're taking the same sort of glee they would take if the situation was reversed, well that says a lot about you, your God and your faith, and none of it's good.

Have a nice day then:hi:

15. "you have what you say" not my words
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 12:38 PM by Heather MC
it's in the bible
I am not taking Joy in this
I am however paying attention to the facts that Everything they have said has turned on them
"John McCain would benefit from an Attack" Poof there's an Attack
"Obama is running because of Ambition" Uh oh McCain printed that in a book in 2000

There is something bigger happening here
All the lies that they have told have all be exposed this year
with the truth

I am not saying God wants t Devaste the people of New Orleans and surrounding areas
I am saying "You have what you say"
You don't have to believe in a higher power I do. I don't believe things happen by accident

Whether I attribute it to God or someone else Karma
there is a higher Power at work

And the Repukes better figure out Quick that their tongues have power and all the wishes and prayers of evil they have for others will come back on them 3 fold.
Sadly they have done alot of Evil in this world and we all are potential victims of that wraft.

9. Also will it take media time away from the RNC?
I don’t want the Gulf States to suffer, but it is possible that Gustav could steal some of the thunder from the RNC.

12. Or it will remind people how Bush handled New Orleans.
I lost all remaining faith in Bush when he congratulated the head of FEMA after Hurricane Katrina.

On September 12 Brown resigned, 10 days after President Bush told him, "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job.

17. The whole premise of your post
is delusional.

Praying to an invisible sky being for rain does not make it rain.

Global warming is causing more dangerous hurricane cycles.

19. I believe that prayer has its greatest effect on the person who prays
and no effect on anyone else- so any attempts to get God to do this or that, even if undertaken by huge by huge numbers of people, are basically a waste of time.

However if James Dobson gathered all his followers together and had them all pray, "Create in me a clean heart, O God," then God would begin to answer that prayer. That is the kind of prayer God answers.

Attempts to twist the divine arm and get him to punish ones enemies are basically in vain.
