Hey Dobson! God must love Obama and hate McCain!
A few weeks ago, the wingnuts over at "Focus on the Family", led by "Rev" James Dobson, told their followers to "pray for rain" when they heard Barack Obama would be giving his Presidential acceptance speech in the open-air "Invesco Field" stadium. So naturally, if it rained on Obama's big night, it would be "proof" that God was against Barack Obama.

The weather forecast for Invesco Field tonight is "Sunny in the mid-70's":

Notice that, in the surrounding days, the bad weather seems to be parting likethe Red Sea to assure Obama of beautiful weather tonight.

Meanwhile...

Weather reports are showing that Tropical Storm (soon to be Hurricane) Gustav in the Gulf is likely to disrupt the GOP Convention next week in Minneapolis/St. Paul, possibly hitting the convention with tropical storm category rain & wind, with the worst weather occurring on the night of John McCain's acceptance speech.

If Dobson's theory holds up, obviously, God must love the Democrats and hate Republicans. I'm just saying.

Pardon me while I laugh my ass off. :)

at the prospect of Gustav hitting anything anywhere anytime. NO ONE needs that. :grr:

I could suggest everyone "pray" Gustav magically dissipates before hitting the coast, but I think the point of how much good that will do has been made.

7. No thanks.
I'm not advocating we all pray to try to control the weather. But it's not good to be happy about something that could result in a lot of tragedy. Have you ever been in a hurricane?

12. I never said "I hope it hits them"...
...just pointing out the absurdity of their belief that you can "will God to smite people you don't like".

4. Those idiots think their prayers manipulate the divinity...
so, if their god automatically does whatever they pray for,
then just WHO is god? They must think they are..

Idiots.

5. A very serious question
Is it "christian" to pray for a weather event which may disrupt someone else's event? Christ that surely does not sound christian to me. I believe dobson is nothing but pure evil as he hates in the name of Jesus Christ. Pathetic.

8. It will be a rain shower if it even gets to Minnesota.
I think the big to do about the storm next week is more related Katrina, Bush, and TV Coverage.

9. Even if they only get dark clouds...
...the great weather for Obama vs. what McCain is likely to get should tell them something.

They prayed God to "smite" Obama's big day with bad weather, and instead, look what they got (and may get).

10. All the critics who responed to you by saying it is "mean" to pray for this hurricane to
hit the pukes obviously did not read your post.

The point is that the hypocrisy of the GOPers is evident in their selective use of "prayer."

Nowhere does anyone of us say we want the damage and death that hurricanes bring. We are just syaing that the enemy is so obviously deluded and "non-christian' in their actions.

I grew up in coastal Virginia and experienced several hurricanes first hand. We had to leave our home more than once. And we lost one completely to Donna in 1960. That was pre-insurance so it was a total loss.

11. How the fuck is a hurricane going to hit Minneapolis?
:wtf:

Some of you people sound like Robertson and Dobson yourselves, taking glee in the idea of a storm hitting innocent people just to make a fucking political point.

20. Even after...
...traveling so far, it will still be strong enough to produce strong storms and gale-force winds.

Not sure how many hurricane's you've experienced in your life, but depending on how strongthey are at the time of landfall, the remnants can still bring nasty weather as far north as Canada... not that anyone here is wishing for such.

...to the numbnuts with no sense of Irony that I'm living in the Gulf Coast right in the path of Gustav. So if you think I'm praying for "bad weather", you obviously aren't paying attention.

Remember, THESE (Dobson's) PEOPLE *BELIEVE* that if Obama got bad weather, it means "God is on their side". So what does it tell them when God sends a hurricane to THEIR GUYS' convention? Do you think they'll find some way to dismiss it? I do.

Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 02:34 PM by Mugsy
Just wanted to give this thread one last kick to piss off the humorless concern trolls on here in desperate need of a sense of irony.

Hey. I didn't CHOOSE the "bad weather" to be a hurricane. I was satisfied with Barack just getting a sunny day. Raining on the RNC is just icing on the cake.
