My birth family doesn't kiss each other on the lips - and it creeps me out when I see parents kissing their young kids on the lips. My mother's reaction is even stronger than mine.

The family I married into (same generation) kisses everyone on the lips. Usually I manage to turn my face just enough so the kiss lands beside my lips, not on them.

Perhaps your sister married into a family where lip kissing is as common as hand shaking.

I haven't seen an references to race - and for those of us who grew up reserving lip kisses for our intimate partners, the race of the kissers would have nothing to do with reacting to it.

I think it's great that they all seem to get along and genuinely like each other. I loved last night. That genuineness (is that a word?) means alot after all this partisianship -- and it's not only partisian -- all the my-way-or-we'll-sink-your-career-or-take-you-out crap that they have been playing with everyone. Holding everyone hostage to their pillaging and looting.

I am so ready for change, as I know we all are. I really loved the fact that Bill got up there last night and reminded people how it felt to have a great leader and good economy.

But for those of you who think it's strange, perhaps you should discern the difference between the type of kiss that's just like a peck on the cheek and the sexual clinch that you read about in romance novels where Fabio's tongue is described in detail by every tooth in the heroine's mouth. People were moving this way and that, lots of people on stage jostling, and the targets just got moved a little. I did think it was strange because politicians in this country usually don't kiss anyone on the mouth except their own spouses. The Black/White thing didn't enter into it.
