Andrew Sullivan slices and dices McWarmonger
did McCain ever get treatment for his PTSD?

http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/08/america-against.html

John McCain is making it quite clear what his foreign policy will be like: tilting sharply away from the greater realism of Bush's second term toward the abstract moralism, fear-mongering and aggression of the first. Not just four more years - but four more years like Bush's first term. If the Democrats cannot adequately warn Americans of the dangers of a hotheaded temperament and uber-neo-con mindset in the White House for another four years, they deserve to lose. If Americans decide they want a president who will be more aggressive and less diplomatic than the current one, then they should at least brace for the consequences - for their economy and their security.

1. Be afraid - MccWarmonger is a raving lunatic
In my view, the fear card has only one truly compelling target in this election: McCain.

A. McCain wants to attack them.

8. McNasty believes that the Left Wing are the cause for the
Defeat in Vietnam. He has claimed that if the US Troops had stayed longer that Victory over N. Vietnam could have been achieved. McLame believes the same in regards to Iraq. He has a Vietnam mindset. McLame is cheerleader for the PNAC concept of American Domination of the World.

9. "The greater realism of Bush's second term"?
Granted, Sullivan seems to have learned that "pre-emptive" invasions don't work out nearly so good as they feel going in, but I'm not willing to say he's completely off the Kool-Aid just yet.

10. I am tired of the "they deserve to lose" mentality. This is about US not "them."
The press has a job to do as well. They failed us eight years ago. They failed us four years ago. Mr. Sullivan - GET TO WORK! ;)

11. According to Team Bush, McCain wasn't even tortured
He was just subjected to enhanced interrogation...

Or, is it only enhanced interrogation when it happens to brown people, but torture when it happens to whites?

I had mentioned it here on DU a few times, but Sullivan also mentioned that fact last week, I believe, too.

13. Torture was all about intimidating Iraqis. They know it is of little if
any tactical value, but it is very good at bullying a population into silence.

17. Ah, yes, it always comes down the fucking oil, doesn't it?
"Finally, the U.S. and Europe need a new trans-Atlantic energy alliance. In recent years, Russia has proven all too willing to use its oil and gas resources as a weapon, and to try to consolidate control over the strategic energy corridors to the West. By working together, an alliance can frustrate these designs and diminish our dependence on the foreign oil that is responsible for the higher energy prices here at home."

This from the Lieberman Graham op-ed that Sullivan is referring to.

18. Those assholes know our dependence on oil is making us weak, but
they know what side their bread is buttered on, so they'd rather send our children to die for oil company profits. They must think they can hold onto power if they restart the cold war.

You know that Thomas Friedmann is now calling for green energy.

Our government needs to look at how Jobs has rebuilt Apple to see how we can prevent confrontation and still come out on top. Hint: it's about thinking like an insurgent, by not fighting on the opponent's terms.

19. I don't trust Sullivan. He was a big GWB supporter back
in 2000.

Maybe he's turned over a new leaf.

But maybe he hasn't.

Not that I don't enjoy hearing slam McCain, but I prefer listening to people I can trust,

21. I've lost complete respect for him because of his
backing of Bush in 2000.

A gay person backing a Republican? :wtf:

He may say some good things now, but I far from trust him to stay on the right path.
