I'm Trying out my McCain Attacks at Work
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 07:01 PM by louis c
Blue collar workers, both men and women should be the democratic target. we should frame the issue in such a way as to gain our members attention and then drive home the point.

Here's how it went at work for me today. I'm a union president that negotiates our CBA (contract). right now we receive $94 for a 5 and half hour shift as Mutuel Clerks (we sell racing tickets at a horse track). I went up to a few women at work and asked this question," Would you mind if in the next contract I could get $116 a shift for the male Mutuel Clerks but cut the women's pay to $77 a shift?". They looked at me in astonishment. I then said "of course that's unfair, but not to John McCain, he doesn't believe we should enforce a law for equal pay for equal work in the workplace. Just think about that when you decide to vote."

4. Responses
At first, they think I'm serious. They angrily disagree. Then the punch line of "of course that's ridiculous, but don't think it doesn't happen. McCain voted against helping to enforce the law to stop it."

It drives home the point, because for that split second, before they realize that it's not serious, they are flabbergasted. That feeling drives home the point. "You know how you felt for that fleeting second that you were unsure what I meant. Women like that live it for years in this country. Your sisters." Everyone of them is now solid Obama. none were before this move. All didn't get it.

Next victims, members with children of draft age.

Make personal and bring it home.

3. Nicely put!
Put the consequences of a GOP vote in their faces.

The one thing I haven't been able to find the right tone for is how to get the GOP sheep to stop being afraid.

Terror and fear of terror is the GOP's go-to argument, like McCain's is "B-b-but, I was a POW!"

5. How about this one
Are you more afraid of losing your house in foreclosure by losing your job or having a terrorist blow it up?.
