What they are probably too stupid to understand is that if Obama doesn't win both Obama and Clinton will be avoided at all costs for a second bid at President.

Obama will be blamed for losing.
Hillary will be accused of working to defeat Obama.

It's one thing to win the nomination and lose. Or for a candidate to be in contention but lose the nomination with many feeling animosity. Both will suffer.
