5. I've been hearing a lot of "didn't watch it" in my office.
Which is, of course 90% Republicans. One did stay up for Michelle and he liked her speech. The other went to bed before Michelle came on, but he did catch Jesse Jackson Jr's speech and he liked that a lot. Had to tear down his father, but liked the son. Odd.

8. JJ Jr's speech was beautiful. It's all about a generational change.

10. Yeah I liked it a lot.
I think he's a better orator than his father. JJ always seemed to overwhelm me with how fast he can talk. I love his passion, and I like is message, but sometimes when JJ gets going I feel beaten down by a barrage of words.

JJ Jr. didn't do that. His tempo and rhythm were spot on for me. For others, used to his fathers tempo, perhaps he was too slow. But for me, it was great on all levels.

13. What was cool about JJ Jr's speech was that it wasn't angry while still eloquent.
Sorry to say but the stereotype that Obama always has to be mindful of, the angry black man, is one that the first generation of black civil rights activists are pigeon-holed into. So I think it's good that there's a renaissance so to speak in the second generation of black leaders.

15. That's true but it helped the RWers trivialize them and that was bad. So it's good the 2nd gen is
better about the image they present in that way. The firebrand rhetoric was passionate and real but it allowed them to be characterized as "threatening" very easily and it made the job easier for the MSM to just shrug it off as another "angry black man." So I'm glad that there's more people like Barack and JJ Jr showing that the stereotype is just that, a one dimensional cutout. Even if the MSM won't acknowledge it, at least people with eyes can see it.

17. They were trivializing them even before the "got angry." Asking politely
would have never worked.

19. I can see that logic but now with more people receptive, it's easier to just ask politely now.
And it's all credit to Sr's generation that JJ Jr can do this and be taken seriously.

20. I think it is the new generation that is thinking for themselves and not
inheriting the sins of their fathers.

16. Poll is now whether you're more interested in watching Hillary or Bill's speech.
So far, Hillary is winning.
