WASHINGTON (AFP) — The United States has formally demanded the return of five US military vehicles seized by Russian forces in Georgia but Moscow has not indicated it will do so, a Pentagon spokesman said Friday.

"The United States did demarche the government of Russia with respect to the handful of Humvees," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said, referring to the military's all-purpose, four wheel vehicles.

"That has not been resolved satisfactorily for us at this point," he said. snip

He characterized Moscow's response by saying, "They have not given us any positive signs in this regard." snip

A Russian newspaper said the vehicles contained sophisticated satellite communications gear and had been flown to Moscow to be examined.

5. Why are they sending such sophisticated weaponry to Georgia?
Especially when Georgia is not yet a member of NATO?

6. I have never heard anything sillier than this "demand"! It's
laughable. When has one side EVER returned military equipment seized in combat? I'm not a war expert but I've never heard of it....nor the asking for it! HA!

7. Hence my huh?
It is laughable. I don't think it has sunk in that they actually lost this round as a result of placing their neo-con agenda ahead of everything else including history.

8. Didn't the
Chinese return a super spy plane that they captured in 2000? Oh yeah. Only after they stripped it like a stolen BMW in East L.A.
