He was born into the military (on the public nickel)
He got free college via military academy
He went into the military himself
He adopted married a rich young courtesan
Her daddy bought him a congressional district
He upgraded to the senate seat he's had ever since..

He's always had others paying his way

He's never had to worry about housing or medical expenses

It's no wonder he does not know what he "owns".. He's lived his entire life, having "others" clean up after and do for him..

He's just playing a role..in his own life..

son of admiral, pow, cheating husband, kept man, legislator..

He's worse than Reagan... Reagan at least KNEW he was an actor, playing a part.. McCain is an "extra"..a Gumpian character, drifting in and out of history without ever understanding or caring to learn about any of it.. People around him do the dirty work, and Mccain is just the front man.. the schmoozer, and any time anyone dares to contradict him, he whips out the POW card...another time he lived with no control of his own life..

1. I've never been able to figure out...
Why so many republicans hate government yet suckle from the public teat. You'd think they'd use the great promise of capitalism to build their own fortune and glory. Its a paradox, wrapped in mystery, surrounded by conundrum.

4. A bunch of my co-workers vote republican...
Then they complain when their annual raise is sucked up by health insurance increases. Go figure.

6. It's how bosses keep from paying raises.. They SAY
Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 11:15 PM by SoCalDem
their insurance costs went up, but are they made to prove it??

If a boss says your share is $150 per paycheck and he pays $250 per paychek on your behalf, wouldn't everyone be better off if he paid YOU that extra $400 a week, and then your share of federal taxes paid for your medical care...along with every other citizen? You are not seeing that $400 a week now, anyway, so ANYTHING left of that $400 that you saw in your bank account would be more than you have now... AND if your boss quit giving you raises, you would be free to change jobs..because the boss would not be in charge of your family's health..

21. And if, as part of your paycheck, you were given the deduction
for soc sec - both the percentage that you contribute plus the percentage the boss contributes (no loss to the boss because that amount is part of the cost of hiring you), add that to the $400 per week in your bank account.

15. Check this shit out:
My brother-in-law is career military (Air Force mechanic). Hardcore Republican. I mean Fox News, Hannity books-- the whole nine yards.

One day he was going on about how terrible socialism is and how great the 'free market' is. I asked him why, if he feels that way, he's chosen to live in a socialist system with free medical care, near complete job security, free housing, etc., etc. instead of getting out there and competing in the free market.

He literally said he was too afraid to do that. He told me, "if you screw up in a civilian job, they'll fire you". Two minutes later he was arguing that we should get rid of "social programs".

Very 'do as I say, not as I do'.

16. Yep..and many disguise it as "patriotism" when it's really
fear of going it alone.. In peacetime, the military can be a very cushy existence..My family was military for 26 years, and I never wanted for anything.. always had medical, dental, good schools, decent housing, free travel..

It's a great way to raise a family, BUT when republicans are hell-bent on fighting wars everywhere, it all can end up very badly these days..

23. Some people just have no empathy..
is what it really comes down to. They are unable to accurately assess their own situations and project problems onto others. This is my view of republicans.

We believe that government employees work just like everybody else.

11. No wonder he's so clueless- he really has no idea what anything costs-
because he's never had to pay for anything. This explains so much. Out of touch? Hell no- this guy has always had the luxury of paying people to be in touch for him- earning a salary or probably using a checkbook, paying bills- he has no connection to these types of things.

14. McSame the ** stand in
and he collects 68,000 a year in disability and 22,000 in social security and 200,000 (thereabouts) in wage for being senator and 6 million a year (from lobbyists?) in "income", and 100 million from second wife's mafia family.

He is not an extra, oh no -- he's one up -- he's a STAND IN for Himself, King **.

19. In other words, McCain has never had the humbling experience of:
working too many hours for insufficient pay

working with nasty and/or inefficient and/or unreliable coworkers

working with an overbearing, psycho boss who could fire him for any reason or no reason at all

performing inane duties such as being polite to rude customers or clients

watching the peter principle at work with subordinates getting promoted for not doing their job.

Yeah, that does explain a lot.

25. Can we please find a less misogynistic word to describe Cindy McCain?
She wasn't a whore. Ugh.

And, being in the military IS a real job. I have had enough friends and relatives in the armed forces to know what it entails. They do indeed work.

I really don't like having to defend Senator and Mrs. McCain, so can we please just stick to issues, and not insulting women and military personnel?

27. He's Trivializing What POWs Went Through
Yesterday someone posted a link to an article by Patty O'Grady...the dauther of a POW...and well worth the read...and forwarding to any and all who think Gramps is a "hero"...

http://www.counterpunch.org/ogrady08232008.html

By his endless playing of the POW card, he shows what a chickenshit he is...not a hero. You want a hero, we had one run in 2004...John Kerry...and see how his service became a liability. Also his wife...who is a saint compared to VicoCindy, who used Gramps as her meal ticket and he used her money...just think of how many millions the two made as a result of his "status" and his ability as a "legislator" to be bought and stay bought.

As one of the Vietnam generation, I have good friends who served in that godforsaken war and never cashed in...most just wanted to bury their experiences and hope this country would never make the same mistake again. Shame on McCain and his sugar mama for taking advantage of this ugly war, the memory of those who died and those who still continue to fight the war in their minds and dreams...this dude, by his trivializing his own war record and trying to turn it into a shield is a disgrace. It's like he went to the Vietnam memorial and pissed all over it.

Cheers...
