WASHINGTON (AP) - On a day and night of political suspense, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden emerged as a leading contender Friday to become Barack Obama's vice presidential pick as two running mate rivals learned they had been eliminated.

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine spread word he had been ruled out and Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana was told he was not Obama's choice, according to party officials.

Biden's son Joseph R. "Beau" Biden, Delaware's attorney general who served in Iraq in the Army National Guard, arrived at the residence as had, for a short while, both his state director and driver.

Biden, 65, first won his job in the Senate over 35 years ago and has been re-elected five times. The Delaware Democrat has chaired both the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Judiciary Committee, and has cast more than 12,500 votes during his political career.

He is a looser on all other accounts. He couldn't even attrack enough people to keep a presidential campaign going. How many people voted for him? He will put his foot in his mouth and REALLY SAY THE WRONG THING, not like they made things up and twisted things wit Kerry in 04. Biden just says stupid things.
