KO said that Jim Warren is leaving the Chicago Tribune
Warren's one of the few true journalists remaining in the MSM. I hope he finds something better.

FRIDAY, AUG 22
Frequent Cable Guest Jim Warren Leaving Chicago Tribune

The Chicago Tribune's Jim Warren, a familiar guest presence on MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, and FNC — and known also for stints as a McLaughlin Group panelist — is leaving the paper, the Trib reports today.

Warren, most recently managing editor for features, joined the Tribune in 1984. His departure, writes Michael Oneal, is part of a "management exodus that has largely rewritten the Tribune's masthead in the eight months since real estate magnate Sam Zell took the paper's parent company private in an $8.2 billion leveraged buyout."

1. Everyone worth a damn at the Boston...
...Globe bailed too, including Walter Robinson, who broke the Bush AWOL story in the mainstream press, and won a Pulitzer for his work on Bush's signing statements.

I don't blame them. What they're good at, there is no future in, at least in the newspapers.

4. Thanks.
I'm also concerned with the weekly Book TV posts by Viva. I miss them.

Do you know how she's doing?

6. I just PMed her today.
I asked if it's on hiatus, or what. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

I've been missing here myself, for a time. :hi:

5. Warren is great. He was once on hardball talking to some repuke who
was accusing some Dem of being an elitist and out of touch. Warren went on to point out that the repuke and he (Warren) had gone to the same prep school in Manhattan.

It was great!
