If, in campaigning, we sink to the level of the repubicans .......
.... we stand an excellent chance of getting our asses kicked like never before.

Oh yeah?

Well ...... yeah. That's how I see it. But maybe not for the obvious reason. I think if we go as low as we think they've sink ............. we won't be close to catching them. I think the repubicans are fully prepared to plumb new depths of smear, shit flinging, lying, character assassination, and even vomit hurling against us.

And NO ONE will call them on it. They got the media. We got nuthin'.

So, am I advocating rolling over?

No.

Grow a set and start fighting.

And that goes for everyone from our candidate on down to nobodies like me.

1. Playing nice just doesn't cut it anymore.
We can play nice and make-up when we take the White House. Until then....take no prisoners.

2. You can fight like hell without getting into the mud pit with them
and you're right, people are finally starting to weary of tabloid sleaze and scum parading as politics. It's only taken, what, 40 years?

Obama needs to laugh at the sleaze and keep hammering them over and over on the economy.

One thing that's good about having them standing in that mud pit while we're above it---mud gets pretty slippery and most of it will end up all over them.

3. No need to. Just tell the truth- use their own words
and do it forcefully.

And yes, do it mean.

Otherwise- prepare for yet another loss.

4. i think if we don't start kicking some major ass soon
we'll be fucked.

the fact that obama is not WAY ahead in the polls speaks volumes--this country is filled with stupid people and they remember the low-down and dirty crap. we'd better give them some shit to remember or they'll be voting for mcasshole in droves.

(i know he's a republicon--see how they are??)

21. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU
The way elections are run now a days...you need to be the first one out of the gate to fling the shit...use anything even if it's not true. If you fling enough shit, some of it is going to stick!!!

Someone brings it, you bring it back, harder, faster and nastier. Knees, elbows, headbutts, biting, gouging, fish-hooking.

Because gentility and comity has worked so fucking well, heretofore.

7. If, in campaigning, you expose every wrinkle on the opposing candidate's hands and face,
every lie, every deceit, every extravagance, every failing, every flaw, every hypocrisy -- you win.

The press loves it because it makes for a great story.

And the people love you, because they can understand what you are talking about, they can remember and gossip with their friends about it, and they know you care about the things they care about and will fight for them.

If you play "nice" and never mention all those wrinkles, those lies, deceits, extravagances, failings, flaws, and all that hypocrisy -- you lose.

Because you are a bore. You are out of touch with reality. You are not telling a good story. You are not willing to fight for what you believe. In short, you are a loser.

How many people have you talked to about Obama this week? What are they saying about him?

How many people have you talked to about McCain this week? What are they saying about him?

Very few people (outside DU and liberal bloggers) are talking about how Obama'a campaign is so fair, how nice Obama is, what a decent family man he is, how inclusive and loving his. No, they are talking about whether he is a celebrity, whether he is a true Christian, how did he do in that religious "debate," and whether he knows enough about national security to stand up to enemies like Russia, Al Qaeda, etc.

And what are they saying about McCain? That he was POW and that everybody including Obama says he is a hero.

Obama has to get out there and tell his story. He has to show that he is more of a hero than McCain and that McCain is a jerk, not someone Americans can trust in the White House. Point out Cindy's dad's ties to the Mafia if they can be proved. Contrast that with the fact that Obama's family had modest means and that Michelle's family was far, far from rich. Obama is starting to tell this story, which is the truth about this election, but he needs to do a lot more. Fortunately, there's lots of time, and people really don't know much about McCain beyond what McCain has told them.

That's how Obama will win. By making himself the hero and McCain POW camp and all the villain. It is the only way. That's the kind of story the press loves. It sells time, newspapers, etc. It's the kind of story that people understand and remember. And Obama needs to tell the story in images, not in a lot of big words.

The Republican candidates are incredibly flawed. From alcoholic, draft-dodging, company bankrupting, Bush, to misognistic, Keating Five, Jack Abramoff, Hug Bush after he slanders your child, McCain.

We don't talk about their "dark side", and we get our asses handed to us.

I would love to see an Ad stating "McCain supported Bush, a man who slandered his little girl just to tow the party line" "McCain won't stand up for his own daughter, and he won't stand up for you".

Fuck it. I want red meat.

11. The cool thing is that we don't have to invent anything to attack McCain.
Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 09:41 PM by backscatter712
The truth's plenty to sink the bastard. Between Keating, his foreign-policy cluelessness (doesn't know the Soviet Union dissolved, or Czechoslovakia split, or the difference between Sunni and Shi'a Islam), his war-mongering, his unwillingness to do anything about the economy, his insincerity, his PTSD-induced insanity, etc. etc. etc., we can make a mockery out of him and show the public he's completely unsuited for the Oval Office..

But yeah, the last thing we need to do is play nice. Take the gloves off and hit McCain as hard as we can!!! Dehumanize and demonize McCain. If it drives him to suicide, well, that's eggs and omelets, and I for one really want this omelet.

It's incredible. No-name butt-heads, funded by the greediest power-mongers, write POS (piece of shit) books, get write-ups on papers and a "voice" on radio WITHOUT challenge.

Those POS's DESERVE a challenge. They DESERVE competition! They certainly deserve EQUAL TREATMENT as waged against anyone who fails to "FIT" in their world view of greed and power.

If we don't get down in the dirt with them, we'll lose. A Pyhrric victory isn't in the cards this time. They have the vote caging and electronic machines in their arsenal. If we don't have a landslide we're going to have another 4 years of war, a Reich Supreme Court, the rich getting even richer, and a further decline of the middle class. We will lose what's left of this country and democratic rule.

Yes, it's time to bloody some noses.

Go to http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com and check out how nasty this could become.

18. The only consolation from taking the high road in politics is a nose bleed. Period.
The rethuglicans are dirty, rat-bastard, street fighters. When up against dirty, rat-bastard, street fighters, it's best to learn to fight like one, either to kick their ass or stay out of the way. Or, get yours kicked.

People do not get it. This election is even more critical than 2000 and 2004. The rethuglican high command ABSOLUTELY NEEDS McBush in office to issue pardons and cover up crimes of the last eight years. Make no mistake, the crooks have NO FUCKING INTENTION OF DOING ANY PRISON TIME. None!

19. Listen-- dirty tactics will NOT turn off undecided voters. It will attract them.
Sad but true. Obama already has the support of everyone to the left of center. People who aren't paying close attention don't give a shit about civility. They aren't looking that closely. To put it very bluntly, they're stupid. Sling mud. They'll notice that and they'll suck it right up. Get mean and you'll actually win over Republicans. They respect people who fight dirty.

I agree that Obama should not be making low blows-- but we are not Obama. Democratic activists should hit as often as possible, and in every way possible.
