PETA Wants To Buy SeaWorld And Free Shamu
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants to buy a SeaWorld park, possibly the one in San Diego, free the animals inside and replace them with virtual reality exhibits, it was reported today.

Officials with the animal rights group say they have an anonymous donor willing to shell out big money to purchase at least one of SeaWorld's three parks, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

3. Well, they should know there is more than one Shamu
Behind the scenes they all have different names, Shamu is the stage name.

5. Didn't know SeaWorld was for sale!
What happens when the freed animals refuse to acclimate to the wild? Do they get euthanized like that whale calf??

6. If they do buy the park, they might as well just shut it down,
How many patrons are going to pay to see videos of fish? Once again the brains at peta have frozen up.

10. not quite accurate in regards to "freeing" all the animals
from tfa:
The animals would be placed in sanctuaries with hopes of returning them to their natural habitats some day

12. PETA is sniffing paint again
That much money could feed a lot of hungry people and house a lot of homeless families.

But a fucking whale is so much more important than those suffering people. :sarcasm:

What swine PETA are.

17. Daily PETA bashing thread.
So carnivores can reinforce their willful ignorance of animal suffering and how "crazy" it is to have compassion for other species on this planet.

14. No way could that be a money making venture.
Who is going to pack up the kids to watch virtual reality TV in Florida?

They'll be out of business in a month, however, they are not serious. It's just another stunt to make the news & suck a little more money out of their donors.

If they ever did spend that much money just to rehabilitate the animals for a successful release, I might have to change my mind on their motives. That would be incredibly expensive.
