4. Well, destroying the republican party would be a good thing
Not that I believe the GOP has been destroyed....I don't. Out of favor at this moment in time? Yes....destroyed? No

They'll go into the private sector...into well placed positions.... and their actions there will still have an impact on our lives....for the worse.

That revolving door coupled with the complete lack of accountability all but guarantees that any talk of the destruction of the GOP is wishful thinking.

5. Karl Rove's "Permanent Republican Majority"...
...is a soaking-wet ice cake sitting in the drain of the political urinal.

The GOP needs a massive "win" to erase the stench of the Kickass Cowboy. I can't believe it will be McCain. I also don't agree with the tinfoil hat crap about McCain choosing Romney as his veep so that he can withdraw for "health reasons" and the United States will then have a shiny new white man for president.

I don't know. Whether the Republican Party has been "destroyed" or not is up for debate, but one thing is for sure.

The GOP KNOWS that they put a drunken cowboy monkey into power.

They know.

Until you see the corpse...all bets are off.

Is it official then... that McCain picked the Ken Doll? I saw the LBN article but was waiting for official confirmation.

As for the stench of Bush.... memories are dangerously short in this country. ...and I never bet against the short memories of Americans.

I never thought McCain would be the next president. Still don't...

Diebold/Premier just ADMITTED there was a bug in Ohio voting machines for 10 years. What are they not admitting?
I estimate we need at least 10% nationwide popular margin to overcome the cheating.

28. They had a Temporary Republican Majority for six interminably long years that probably did us in.
During that time they managed to distribute their goddam voting machines all over America without nary a peep out of the so-called re-energized Democratic Party. I'll believe the Republican Party is dead when BlackWater is dismantled and Bush and Cheney are in jail. "Til then don't hold your breath.

58. Remember though, some republicans actually did the right thing in
voting to impeach Nixon. That wouldn't happen with bush, and McConnell would filibuster bringing the issue to a vote or have one of his lackeys put a hold on it.

I always thought removal in place or using the 25th Amendment would have been the way to go. With the 25th, a simple majority is all that is needed.

57. Don't rule out
the possibility of a McCain presidency, either. KKKarl is still in action; the Repuke smear machine is in full swing against Obama; the Repukes control the voting machines. They will stop at NOTHING. Lying, stealing, cheating: i was, is, and always will be the Republican way.

Even Repukes know that McCain is a HORRIBLE candidate. I have a LOT of Repuke voters in my family (most of 'em registered Dem, too!), and NONE of them have anything good to say about McCain. Their take on Obama: "he's a socialist," "he'll tax us to death," "he's a Muslim," "he's never accomplished anything." Oh, and, yes, he's black and he'll be assassinated anyway, so why bother electing him? I can only shake my head.

25. "Where crimes were committed, let there be trials."
I think this is the key. If Nixon had not gotten off scot free, there would probably have been no Reagan Revolution.

There will be a temptation to say "it's all in the past, our long national nightmare is over, let's just look forward", but I think it's essential that we kick them for a good long time while they're down. Otherwise they'll just keep coming back like a horror movie bad guy.

16. The Republican Party destroyed the Republican Party by voting for Bush.
Many people saw this coming back in 2000. He was a complete idiot, so anyone trying to place the blame soley on Bush is trying to divert responsiblity from the people that put him there.

The Republicans have done this to themselves.

Unfortunatley, the Republican Party isn't the only thing they have destroyed. Look at what a wreck this country is in.

The death blow to this country is if McCain gets voted in.

49. The "stake" in this case is a reliable voting system.
An even bigger stake...but a harder to "plunge" stake... is education. Kids need to know about their government and how it works. These subjects should not be nerdy, but somehow cool (don't ask me how!)

When I was in school in the 70's, Government, the "establishment", was something to ridicule....down with it! Now that we are at an age where we are participating in the establishment, we as a group know nothing about it. This is not necessarily the hippies' fault. It was a reaction to Nam and Nixon.

Instead of doing it again with Bush and Iraq, we need to admit mistakes and end this myth of America as somehow golden and chaste.... unlike every other country on the planet. We are a country and we act like every other one....we make mistakes and do things we know better than to do. This is not America as always wrong either. We also do amazing things. We are just like the other citizens of the world. Some honest history with some accountability for the crimes of the Bush Administration would go a long long way.

We could start with the real message of 9/11: That the world is not America and doesn't even want to be.

socializing the risk is their mantra and modus operandi. Rant against regulation and "government handouts", but be the first to have your hand out to that same government for your huge share of little people money when you destroy your corporation through your own greed, arrogance and gross mismanagement.

33. You know what's struck me recently? People openly talk about things that used to be
taboo. It seems like everyone I talk to nowadays easily accepts the fact that our foreign policy is designed to service corporate interests-- not us. More people than ever seem to recognize the fact the whole game boils down to the extremely wealthy enriching themselves and impoverishing everyone else.

The Bush Administration really pulled the cover off the whole corporate-run government system. In their arrogance, they put it out there and called it virtuous and demanded everyone salute it.

I went to the Animal Fair.
The birds and the beasts were there.
The big baboon, by the light of the moon,
Was combing his auburn hair.
The monkey he got drunk.
He slid down the elephant's trunk.
The elephant sneezed and fell on his knees,
And that was the end of the monkey, monkey, monkey, munk!
