Poll: Majority of Americans open to supporting a gay presidential candidate.»

A new Zogby poll finds 65 percent of U.S. voters say they “strongly” or “somewhat” agree that they could support an openly gay presidential candidate. Seventy-one percent also said that they could support the appointment of an openly gay Cabinet-level secretary. According to the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, more than “415 openly LGBT elected officials serve at every level of government throughout the United States, a ten-fold increase in just the last two decades.”

9. Right...does this theoretical gay president
get to move his or her partner into the White House too? Oy, the complexities it will entail, best not to even go there.

(:sarcasm:)

4. Yes, I can just imagine someone making an obviously photoshopped "humorous" photo now
Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 10:10 AM by YOY
Featuring the candidate in the "catching" end of things. The public would take that in proper context...

I wonder what political party would do that... (<----RHETORICAL QUESTION)

Then again someone made this one for Rummy:

I don't think it was a FReeper...

6. Good news. Of course, people are always more open to hypotheticals
than to reality, but it's good news all the same.

7. I think it is encouraging
And I'm glad to read it. 415 is higher than I'd have guessed too. Thanks for sharing this.

8. Better take it with a grain of salt
I think this is a great example of where people might say one thing to a pollster and another thing to the voting booth. Nobody feels comfortable admitting that they're a bigot to a complete stranger. Unless you're Rush Limbaugh of course.

Didn't I read someplace that Abe Lincoln was Gay.

Think I did ~
