Try that one out as a bumper sticker. Or as a chant at the convention, or in conversations with your republican friends.

Nice gettin' to know ya', Johnny Mac.

8. Nah, the family values crowd are a bunch of hypocrites. It has nothing to do with family values
that's perfectly clear in this election. It had to do with their political affiliations, "family values" was just an excuse.

17. The so-called "family values" leaders are hypocrites, but their voters are sincere...
How do you think they get all that mileage from their "family values" hypocrisy?

26. Their voters are not sincere based on my experiance
I do some IT troubleshooting for an older guy (over 80), been working with him for close to 10 years. This guy is the definition of a religious nut case. In church every Sunday and of course a republican. In 2004 I could remember him going on and on and on about how important family values are. Well come this election season he of course supports John McCain. I asked him why that is if McCain cheated on his first wife for a hot blonde. I won't post the answer here since what he said was down right offensive (yes, it involved race) but I have came to the conclusion based on this experiance that these people are not sincere, they are hypocrites that use the family values bs to support their own political agenda. Of course this is just one experiance but I have a hard time believing others are different, especially since the religious nut cases support McCain over Obama by a very large margin according to the polls.

to be president! If he really had what it takes, he'd be on his second or third wife by now, plus have a girl on the side, and he'd have used his political connections to have at least 3 homes.

70. My response to a legitimate critique of the slogan--post Biden-pick
Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 07:46 AM by kurtyboy
I received a PM from a person who rarely posts, and I think the person brings up an important consideration:

it would be a great, brilliant!, slogan, but consider that biden is a widower, re-married now.

i think it matters, before it catches on.

maybe a tiny re-write??
faithful spouse, or somethin??

anyway, just had to say.....

I responded in this way:

Thank you for the input, xxxxxxx, and I think you bring up a legitimate concern.

I wrote the slogan at 6:30 AM on Friday to try and catch the wave of coverage of the McCain gaffe, well before the VP pick was leaked. I released the slogan into the wild at a couple of web sites, and waited to see if it would catch (my 2004 slogan "I'm voting for the smart one" never did!), and it has.

Adjustments at this point are impractical, in my opinion, and perhaps impossible, since people are already marketing the slogan and finding some success. And the way slogans work is their catchiness--in this case I play on the ONE theme that has been repeated by the campaign throughout the primaries--I don't know how to keep it catchy and drop that word. And finally, no serious critic would point to a widower and compare his experience to that of a philanderer--it would be the death knell of the McCain campaign to bring that up. In short, if they respond they're screwed, if they let it run wild, they're screwed--I like the odds.

But as I pointed out to one other person in the thread, it's just a sticker, and it was generated by a person completely unassociated with the official campaign (I was hoping for Gore--but well, you know...). So if there is some critique of the message, the campaign can certainly disavow it.

With the smart selection of Joe Biden as VP candidate by Barack Obama, there is a clear choice now for America on economics, empathy and ethics:

One House, One Spouse, Obama/Biden 08.

You did it with logo (and color), mine is just plain black text ...

Actually, should you choose to redo yours to include Biden (which I would recommend, as his person affirms the message), I would suggest you try it with one logo only ... I am a lawyer not a designer, but it might look more "focused" ...
