CIA Staffer warned Cheney, Libby of Leak's Danger
http://www.nysun.com/article/47343?page_no=4

A CIA employee who gave regular intelligence briefings to Vice President Cheney and his chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby Jr., testified yesterday that shortly after the leak of a CIA operative's identity, the pair was given a stark warning that the leak could lead to the deaths of people who aided American intelligence gathering abroad.

"I thought there was a very grave danger to leaking the name of a CIA officer," the briefer from Langley, Craig Schmall, said he told Messrs. Cheney and Libby during a morning session at the vice president's residence. "Foreign intelligence services where she served now have the opportunity to investigate everyone whom she had come in contact with. They could be arrested, tortured, or killed..."

1. Since Cheney doesn't care about anyone but himself
and his fat cat buddies, does anyone here think this bit of information mattered a whit to him?

8. Of course the rest of the Sun's article is about
how effective the defense is in making Libby an innocent dupe.

20. It sure brings on mental illness
when we jump up and down and try to tell people things that go against their spoon fed corporate propoganda diet. Although I have to say that after 6 years of this many of my close friends now see me as the "go-to" guy for news and info. Small consolation though.:(

Cheney - Libby equals the same thing - except in rating their importance relative to bringing them down through exposure.

It would be interesting to know how many anonymous stars are on that wall since the leak and if the number coincides with the agency's average number of anonymous deaths or not.

7. And cheney and bush backers don't care
If someone dies to coverup for a "conservative" then so be it. More CIA employees die in car wrecks anyway. And don't forget, CIA employees are all volunteers. And so what if a mission is messed up because of disclosure to cover up for our great leader, we can build more missions, hell look how long the Alamo has been around. Long live "conservtive" brainpower and patriotism.

14. Yeah, gosh
I just can't figure out why all those powerful people in the white house just had to expose her identity and why scooter had to lie and coverup for bush and rove. Gosh there must be some other worthwhile and "conservatively" approved valid explanation.

You'll see.

This was a brilliant way to do it. Go for the easier charge to prove, where you don't have to introduce has much 'secret' information, which could have killed the trial right off the bat. Turn the WP and the OVP on each other, sit back and let them convict themselves.

22. But that's not the kind of thing a busy man like Libby would remember, right?
And a mere warning like that wouldn't tend to make him remember everything else that happened after that in the case, would it. After all, he was too busy meeting with Tom Cruise over important matters of State to remember any of these other trifling matters concerning mundane subjects like war and CIA operatives.

26. what kind of writing is this?
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 03:14 PM by Blue_Roses
"Why was the ambassador told this was a VP office question? Joe Wilson Valerie Wilson," Mr. Schmall's notation reads. Despite his handwriting on a table of contents for Mr. Libby's intelligence briefing that day, the CIA briefer said he had "no recall" of discussing the subject of the Wilsons with Mr. Libby on that occasion.

:wtf: Get a better reporter to lay out the details on this. We are not in the court room. I had to read it 4 times to get the gist of what he's saying.

OTOH--Scooter Libby with a memory problem? What a crock of shit. He KNEW what he was doing and so did his boss. The interview with Dick Cheney and Wolf yesterday should have shown the light on these liars.

I imagine it could not be entered into the trial since it may be considered speculation. But, I'd like to have it made public.

How many people, good people, people fighting the war on human destruction, did RepubliCONs kill this time?

She was running the Iran anti-proliferation program, that is, preventing the "next" war. They couldn't have that.
