Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 08:23 PM by autorank

They've done everything they could to keep Vince Bugliosi's book under wraps. Even though Vince Bugliosi is the #1 true-crime selling author of all time, it persists. ABC wouldn't take paid advertisements. There have only been two very short cable news stories. CNN did a hatchet job on a 20 minute interview where they tried to make Bugliosi look sympathetic to Bush. No Oprah, no Colbert, no Jon Stewart (yet), no Crossfire, no Olbermann, NO NOTHING ON MSM for this book.

When Bush runs out the clock on impeachment and you're looking for justice, send a copy of this book to your local prosecutor.

A Review of Bugliosi's - The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder

By Michael Collins

The Prosecutor and the President

Vincent Bugliosi wants George W. Bush prosecuted for murder. There are others who are complicit in the crime, namely the Vice President and Condoleezza Rice, but Bush is the target of this famed former Los Angeles prosecutor (the Charles Manson case) and best selling author (Helter Skelter and The Betrayal of America as two examples). He is undeterred by the virtual major media blackout on interviews and advertising. He's taking his case directly to the people through alternate media and the internet.

Bugliosi constructs a devastating case in The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder. As I write this review, it is still difficult to grasp my sense of shock at this title with this author's name below it. A legendary prosecutor with a near perfect record in big cases, Bugliosi articulates one of the most revolutionary ideas imaginable in a mix of today's otherwise vapid and obtuse political thinking. But first, the book and how the prosecutor makes his case.

He wastes no time in following up on the shock generated by the title. In the first sentence, we're told:

"The book you are about to read deals with what I believe to be the most serious crime ever committed in American history - - the president of the nation, George W. Bush, knowingly and deliberately taking this country to war in Iraq under false presences, a war that condemned over 100,000 human beings, including 4,000 American soldiers, to horrific, violent deaths." (V. Bugliosi, p. 3)

Snip

The Birth of the Public Servant

While a trial and conviction of George W Bush for murder would be an event of momentous proportions, it would pale in comparison to enduring impact due to the precedent established. Presidents could no longer offer up the lives of soldiers and civilians sent to a war that was stated for anything other than national defense or imminent danger to the country.

It was exciting in a way most non fiction isn't, or maybe I should say, it was more exciting than most non fiction;)

He handles evidence with real skill, an artisan at that from the many trials. The construction is similar to classical rhetoric - we identify with the victims, the author gains our trust, and bam - it's a devastating, logical, air tight case.

He's only getting press from the alternate media, on the internet in particular, and leftish radio.

NO corporate media. In the interview (linked at the bottom) Part 2, he recounts this:

'Three people independently of me told me essentially the same story, and it's something I hadn't thought about, and what they said is, "Mr. Bugliosi, the reason they're not having you on television is because of who you are." And I said, "What do you mean by that?" And they said, "Well" -- three people independently at separate times and essentially the same words. Obviously they didn't use the same words, but essentially the same words. They said, "If some nut wrote a book with a title like this, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, (we) would probably have him on because it's colorful, it's entertaining, it doesn't mean anything, it doesn't go anywhere. But you're a very serious person, and you write very serious books." And in all of my true crime books -- and I wrote about the biggest crimes of the twentieth century, the Manson case, the Simpson case, the Kennedy assassination -- I prove my case beyond a reasonable doubt." (V. Bugliosi, Aug. 3, 2008)

26. Collins: don't give Powell a free ride
There are others who are complicit in the crime, namely the Vice President and Condoleezza Rice, but Bush is the target

Condoleeza comes into office after Colin Powell dishonors his uniform. A general's first moral obligation is protect the lives of soldiers. But there's Colin Powell, General Colin Powell, Secretary of State Colin Powell, in front of the UN, mindlessly spending lives like the proverbial GI on payday, "drink, fuck, and throw his money away".

Don't give Powell a free ride. He is there at the start and earns his opprobrium, four stars worth.

Recommended.

Here he is lying to the UN about WMD, lying with a straight face.
He knew, his aids knew ... it was a big fat lie.

And look what he was up to next. Nobody wants to talk about this in corporate media
but these are some real thugs, sadists:

A Bureaucracy Mired in the Details of Torture

We found out last week that the vice president and senior Bush appointees "discussed and approved" the highly abusive interrogation techniques applied to U.S. detainees, according to reports by ABC News and the Associated Press. Those techniques include waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and physical assault.

"In dozens of top-secret talks and meetings in the White House, the most senior Bush administration officials discussed and approved specific details of how high-value al Qaeda suspects would be interrogated by the Central Intelligence Agency, sources tell ABC News." ABC News, Apr. 10, 2008

The list of officials includes Vice President Cheney, along with Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, George Tenet, and John Ashcroft -- who were cabinet members at the time -- and Condoleezza Rice." They "discussed and approved" torture scripts that were followed to the letter:

"The high-level discussions about these "enhanced interrogation techniques" were so detailed, these sources said, some of the interrogation sessions were almost choreographed -- down to the number of times CIA agents could use a specific tactic." ABC News, Apr. 10, 2008

tell me, why exactly did Mikey Powell 'have to' be head of the FCC? Would he have died without the gig? He made mince meat out of the FCC, he was unqualified and vindictive and partisan as hell.
Protecting his son's undeserved job is actually one of Powell's transgressions, not a mitigation of his actions.

MSM provides NO coverage, except on a couple of occasions when it's been negative.

Of course, when he wrote "Helter Skelter," the biggest true crime book of all time and all the others,
they loved having him on - great guest, smart guy, real quality box office. But now, their fear is
showing.

And Obama doesn't have to talk about it because, as i recall, he's already said he'd stay out of the
way of the prosecution of major crimes by Bush administration officials. Well, this is pretty major;)
and besides it's local law enforcement.

Sleepless nights, that's for sure.

That Bugliosi couldn't get a publisher in the US for the audio book!

"MC: Has anybody bothered you since it was published?

VB: No. No, there hasn't been anyone that's bothered me. But, in any event, I finally found a courageous publisher over at Vanguard Press. And then we get down to the audio level. That's something I never gave a thought to, ever. It was automatic. Reclaiming History was Simon & Schuster. This time, Peter Miller, my agent, called me and said, "Vince, I can't find any audio company in America that will do the audio on the book." We finally got the BBC to do it, thank God. That's the one -- that tape is the one that that congressman from the South heard driving back to the South from Washington, D.C. (see Part 1). There's a documentary on my book being produced at the present time for the big screen. The producers couldn't raise one penny in America for the book.

MC: Not a cent?

VB: The money came in from Canada. So it may sound presumptuous of me to say this, but this, I think, is an important story, because it is a snapshot glimpse of a nation, I think, in serious decline, with freedom of speech and expression supposedly being our most cherished constitutional right, and we say we're, what, the land of the free and the home of the brave? What has happened with my book, I think, throws into question the present vitality of both of these assumptions."

Book's been on the Best Seller List, non fiction, NYT for 8 weeks. Lets see, that's around the end of June. It was published May 28th, or close to that. No coverage, 4 weeks to best seller. The games up for MSM. If they can't stop this (other than their own turf), what's the value of the corporate investment.

62. Take a look at his book along with #7 and #3 (none of ours have daggers)
Those are all anti-Bush books and NONE of them have the (†)

Now look at #1, #5 and #8

They all have (†) next to them

What does (†) mean

Rankings reflect sales, for the week ending Aug. 9, at many thousands of venues where a wide range of general interest books are sold nationwide. These include hundreds of independent book retailers (statistically weighted to represent all such outlets); national, regional and local chains; online and multimedia entertainment retailers; university, gift, supermarket, discount department stores and newsstands. An asterisk (*) indicates that a book’s sales are barely distinguishable from those of the book above. A dagger (†) indicates that some bookstores report receiving bulk orders. Among those categories not actively tracked are: perennial sellers; required classroom reading; text, reference and test preparation guides; journals and workbooks; calorie counters; shopping guides; comics and crossword puzzles. Click here for an explanation of the difference between trade and mass-market paperbacks. On the Web, the lists are available one week ahead of the print edition of the Book Review.

That means someone out there is mass-purchasing these books in high quanitities - usually an indication that someone is trying to force these books on the best sellers list.

The book the OP along with the other liberal authors books and non-political books all seem to be without a (†) but the pro-Bush books well they all have them. Makes you wonder where these books would be on the list if there wasn't someone buying up huge quantities of them.

100. You don't know about the Rightwing's technique of mass-buying...
Edited on Fri Aug-22-08 02:49 PM by nikto
...to create the false impression of a "hit" book?

You don't actually think slime like Ann KKKoulter has fans who BUY BOOKS?

No way---KKKoulter's fans need that ca$h for METH;They don't buy, or even READ, books.

Seriously, the mass-buys are the only way to push the rightwing slime-tomes up the list.
Hardly ANYONE actually buys most of the rightwing books. It's all just a phony "circle game"
where rightwing money$ buys the books in the 1st place and later give them away to
clear the warehouses for the next phony book.

It's never been about selling books for The Rightwing---It is ALWAYS about pushing smears, myths and slime.

For years afterward the books' publishing, the rightwing Orgs will be giving away KKKoulter's books
with $40 memberships----The ads are quite ubiquitous on rightwing sites---The technique is
a clear pattern of market manipulation leading to "promotional giveaways".
It has been well-documented.

You don't see ANY companies giving away Al Franken's books or Michael Moore's books
BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY SELL IN LARGE NUMBERS AND MAKE REAL PROFIT.

Nobody is going to give-away an ACTUAL, REAL and *Profitable*, best seller!

66. Its just collateral Damage
If anyone thought that the Iraq war wasn't about OIL ... they are SERIOUSLY kidding themselves ... I knew it in my heart when the first rumors about the Iraq war surfaced in 2002. Bush Cheney et al - think of humans as mere objects, mostly as useful resources ( useful to them that is ..) So as in any venture you have to spend some resources in order to obtain a financial reward.... It is wise to remember that these guys are used to laying off thousands of people with a mere stroke of a pen ... They are cold calculating machines ...Human life and dignity does not mean much in their world. Its all about MONEY MONEY and more MONEY... That pretty much drives/ explains all the actions of this administration.

76. Sure, the ones with "ghost buyers" -- just like "ghost voters"
You need to factor out the "dagger" that reveals bulk sales.

Virtually all neocon books include these "lying sales," which are generated by big money buying big numbers up just to bulldoze them underground offer as premiums and freebies for one reason or another (yeah, that's the ticket).

Notice Dick Morris is daggered. But Jane Mayer and Thomas Frank are not.

They are really pretend sales. Nobody reads them.

95. Bulk buys. Doesn't mean anyone actually
reads these books. Just means Scaife and friends are spending their pocket change rocketing a few more books to the top in order to dupe the gullible into thinking America is buying these books.
They'll be sitting in warehouses with the rest of the Newt, Hannity, O'Reilly, and Coulter never-reads.
Look for the dagger - that tells the story.

72. K & R #115, and my pleasure, got to meet the man years ago
and scored Two copies of his book on the Supreme Court Crooks...

It was a Hollywood home party, I believe we were at the home of Elayne Boosler, the hilarious comediane from the 80's and Bugliosi was Tremendous.. You could tell you were in the presence of pure rationality and intelligence. He's a hoot to talk to about Charlie Manson as well, has great stories there too.

I'll always treasure the signed copies, and look forward to buying this one and keeping the man on the best seller list for a long time. I'll tell you this, after co-founding a operating our Takebackthemedia.com site for so long and witnessing all the Media is capable of, I'm frankly amazed that he's been able to buck the odds and come this far. They are insidious and loaded for bear with big corporate bucks, hell, look at what happened to the author who wrote that Bush was a cocaine whore, he's Dead..

This is one of the bravest men in America, and should be rewarded with word of mouth and as much money as we can throw at him, a True Patriot.

Thanks for getting the word out, I'll tell everyone I know.

The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder

Watch now!
Author: Vincent Bugliosi

About the Program
Vincent Bugliosi argues that President Bush and his administration are responsible for murdering thousands of U.S. soldiers and over 100,000 Iraqi civilians in Iraq. Mr. Bugliosi says that by taking the country to war under knowingly false pretenses, President Bush has committed the most serious crime in U.S. history. He spoke at an event held at the Venice Center for Peace with Justice and the Arts in California.

About the Author
ln his career as a prosecutor for the Los Angeles District Attorney's office, Vincent Bugliosi was successful in 105 out of 106 felony jury trials, including 21 consecutive murder convictions. He prosecuted Charles Manson and "the Manson family" for a series of California murders and wrote a book about it called "Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders." Mr. Bugliosi's other books include "Outrage: The Five Reasons Why OJ Simpson Got Away With Murder", "The Betrayal of America: How the Supreme Court Undermined the Constitution and Chose Our President", and "Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy."

Nothing but real citizens buying real books. 8 weeks on the charts, with no promo - even when they want to buy ads. No interviews for the top true crime author of ALL TIME. And they like him, but he's too effective and we couldn't have that - justice for the elite and their lackeys.

You will not be disappointed if you buy and read this book. Send it to your local prosecutor when you're done;)
