Today at a townhall meeting, an audience member praised Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for his vow to “follow bin Laden to the gates of hell.” After a long question about veterans’ care, the questioner said she believed we needed to reinstate the draft, to which McCain seemed to readily agree:

QUESTIONER: If we don’t reenact the draft, I don’t think we’ll have anyone to chase Bin Laden to the gates of hell.



MCCAIN: Ma’am, let me say that I don’t disagree with anything you said.

And a large portion of the country has cheered them every step of the way, with the rest doing pretty much nothing to stop it. Question: What do these people NOT feel entitled to take for themselves and their own purposes? Answer: nothing.

I have a 17 year old son, and I'll be damned if I am going to sacrifice him for another invasion. It's real easy to say we should reinstate the draft when you don't have a son or daughter that may have to serve. No, my son will not be a sacrificial lamb.

If it was a gaffe, the campaign has not backed off of it. How many more wars does John McCain want to fight? Parents need to know, Americans need to know, young Americans need to know.
