CLEVELAND -- Representatives for Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones are expected to update her condition about noon.

Her condition is believed to be serious and rumors are flying that she had died.

Her spokesman Joe Hewitt said, "She has not passed."

The update will come about 15 hours after Tubbs Jones is believed to have suffered a brain aneurysm while driving in Cleveland Heights. She was rushed to Huron Hospital in East Cleveland Tuesday night.

Tubbs Jones was the Cuyahoga County prosecutor before succeeding U.S. Rep. Louis Stokes in Congress. She has served five terms.

3. For what it's worth, I had a co-worker pass an e-mail
that she had passed (plus another co-worker tell me she had passed); the Plain Dealer online had that she had stabilized.

8. UPDATE: Ohio station: Tubbs Jones may be taken off life support
By Jared Allen
Posted: 08/20/08 12:41 PM

After suffering a massive aneurysm while behind the wheel Tuesday night in Cleveland, Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Ohio) is in grave condition and may be taken off of life support as early as this afternoon, according to WOIO in Cleveland.

Tubbs Jones was “for all intents and purposes dead when they brought her into the hospital” Tuesday night, the station reported in a breaking news update that interrupted regular morning programming.

The station, reporting from outside Huron Hospital in East Cleveland, where Tubbs Jones was brought Tuesday night, said her condition was “grave.” The report also indicated that life support could be “withdrawn sometime afternoon.”

Tubbs Jones’s office released a statement earlier Wednesday saying the congresswoman had suffered an aneurysm and described her condition as stable.

Her office could not be reached to confirm WOIO reports that her life is in immediate jeopardy.

9. I am truly saddened by this news.

This is what's scary about being our age. Most of us will live until we're 75 or more, but we know that some of us will suddenly drop, and that's that. We're accustomed to burying the folks of our parents' generation, but now, we're seeing our contemporaries drop.

She will be missed.

12. Very sad. I used to take care of many patients like this--very hard to
watch the families come in and see their loved one in ICU surrounded by tubes and wires and unresponsive, facing a difficult decision. Prayers for her and for them.

13. So sad, she is my Congresswoman
She lost her husband to a massive heart attack just a couple of years ago. I know Hillary Clinton is very concerned. Stephanie was a loyal supporter and a true friend to Hillary.

This is so sad:cry:

14. UPDATE: Stephanie Tubbs Jones in grave condition after brain aneurysm
Posted by Plain Dealer staff August 20, 2008 13:00PM
Categories: Breaking News, News Impact

U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first African-American woman to represent Ohio in Congress, is in grave condition after suffering a brain aneurysm.

Tubbs Jones, 58, served as a Cuyahoga County judge and prosecutor before succeeding U.S. Rep. Louis Stokes. She has served five terms in Congress and is expected to easily win her sixth in November.

A spokeswoman for Tubbs Jones said the congresswoman's condition has stabilized and she is receiving medical attention.

But the mood of supporters was more somber. Cleveland Councilman Roosevelt Coats was seen sobbing outside the hospital. He said Tubbs Jones was unconscious and her friends and relatives were preparing for the worst.
