3. Great Idea, I think you should propose a group
:hi:
here's a link and you can count me as one of the people you need to propose it.

4. It has been proposed before!
Many times, I cannot take credit for this idea, I merely signed up for it and like everyone else, have waited and waited and waited...

7. Question
After a group has been submitted under those rules, shouldn't one normally get a yes/no or 'change your mission statement and get back to me'? I proposed a book/DVD exchange a while ago and never received an answer back on it, despite three emails. To my knowledge, the DU'er who proposed the Emergency Preparedness group has never heard back either.

11. I remember this and thought it was a great idea.
I hope something comes of it, there seemed to be a lot of interest.

14. I don't know that the E.P. forum got to mission statement part.
I know there were enough people interested, but don't know if there was a written mission statement, but I've not been on much recently.

23. I remember that thread, thank you for posting.
Now, maybe we can get an explanation for why the forum was turned down?

Was it due to confusion with the "Mission Statement" which could easily have been rectified?

24. I don't think it was turned down per se
Its status remains unclear more than a month after it was submitted for approval, and the same goes for the book/dvd exchange.

5. I love this idea!
I was active in the Hurricane Survivors Forum, but it hasn't had a post since February this year, and there's been so many more disasters where survivors, responders, and people in the path of danger can gather for support and to share resources. Seriously, the Hurricane Forum was invaluable in its time, but it's been three years since Katrina. While recovery down there is still hardly even begun, DUers looking at Fay bearing down on their hometown, or DUers who are still mucking out from the Iowa floods could sure use such a forum to get and share information.

I give this suggestion an enthusiastic :thumbsup::thumbsup:!

K&R, obviously. :kick:

9. Well, young'un, let me tell you about DU before you got here...

It's actually a DU Group, for donating members only. I'd prefer a Forum over a Group for this subject, so everyone affected by the disaster could have a place of support. But here's the link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=360

10. A forum for all emergencies seems to me to be more inclusive.
Everyone's gonna be effected by an emergency one way or another.

8. T.S.Fay is acting weird: Strengthening over land!
It will turn west, go out over water again, probably, and then possibly hit FL again. You never know. The weak fronts we've received in Texas this last weekend may keep it from heading our way.

13. maybe a trade forum too in emergency areas.
That would be super useful, to be able to trade needed items when the markets are closed.
