EmailPrintRadio talk host Lynn Cullen out at WPTT
Monday, August 18, 2008
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Lynn Cullen As of Aug. 30, longtime radio talk show host Lynn Cullen will no longer be on the radio.

WPTT-AM (1360) is switching to a new format and will be eliminating Ms. Cullen's show, which airs from 9 a.m. to noon.

Ms. Cullen confirmed today that her last day would be Aug. 29.

While she will be taking a previously scheduled vacation this week, Ms. Cullen said she plans to be on the air for her final four days, Aug.26-29.

"You don't just create an audience in this business, you create a kind of community," said Ms. Cullen, known as one of Pittsburgh's few liberal broadcast personalities, "and I need to be able to talk to this community about this and to try to assuage what I suspect will be frustration and anger at losing a voice that they felt spoke for them."

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

I can tell you she had the highest ratings, by far, on the radio station. I hate this. She is so good.

2. Good point
She would actually fit in very nicely. She's been doing talk in Pittsburgh forever so I don't know if she'd translate well nationally. But she is good.

3. DAMN!!!! I listened to Lynn when I lived in Pgh, and I still listen to her
via streaming while living out of state! I feel very bad for Pgh! They're losing one of the very few liberal voices they have, and believe me, Pgh. is NOT a Pub town! You can probably imagine the words I'm yelling right now, and they are the ones DU wouldn't want me to post!

5. I know I already posted a reply but I just thought of something else about PGH!
I still have friends & relatives there, and they're all ticked off about Concast moving MSNBC to the digital tier of cable! Most of them just can't afford, or don't want to pay for, digital service, and they're all pissed because they can't watch KO every night. YES, I did send them the link to the MSNBC podcast, but it's different, and they're very unhappy!

Somehow this seems like another way to squelch the voice of the liberals!!!!!!

7. Not really
The owners of this stuff are just idiots. Not political. She would have been fired years ago if it were political.
