Bush warns Russia over disputed provinces
Moscow signs plan for cease-fire; leaders wait on Russia's troop withdrawal

CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush warned Russia on Saturday against trying to pry loose two separatist regions in Georgia and said Moscow must end military operations in the West-leaning democracy that once was part of the Soviet empire.

Bush told reporters at his Texas ranch that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's signing of a cease-fire plan with Georgia was "a hopeful step." But Russia's vision of Georgia without the provinces of South Ossetia and Abkhazia was a nonstarter, the president said.

"These regions are a part of Georgia and the international community has repeatedly made clear that they will remain so," said Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at his side. "There's no room for debate on this matter."

The long-simmering dispute over those breakaway areas turned to war this month after Georgia launched a massive barrage to try to take control of South Ossetia. The Russian army quickly overwhelmed the Georgian forces and drove deep into its neighbor.

11. Poor Bushie, Poor Condi
Hoisted on their own petard. What will they do - 'huff, and puff, and blow Putin's house in.'

The Russians were laughing at her bad 'Russian'. What a fraud.

I'm willing to take bets that all the neo-con hustlers who have been robbing Eastern European governments by stealing 'lobbying dollars' are all back in the US as I type, and not just in Georgia.

The one thing I'm certain about is that CONservative under this goons has been the greatest con pulled off in history. We're all paying for K street.

12. Bush and Condi are a joke to the international community
They've lost whatever moral authority the US had left with Iraq/Guantanmo/Abu Ghraib.

And their bad decisions on everything else have left NO doubt that they can't handle emergencies.

Just go on vacation, Chimpy. And Condi? Go shopping.

This world is far too complicated for you both.

15. She's probably thinking about her own vacation, which she "cut short"...
...and the fact that she is at the Pig Farm, with Junior, who is on vacation.

I need a personal assistant just to help me organize the details of the vacations in this administration!

Biden heads to Georgia
Posted: 03:55 PM ET

From CNN's Steve Brusk

Biden is a powerful Senate ally of Barack Obama.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Sen. Joe Biden, D-Delaware, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and thought to be on Barack Obama’s short list for vice president, is headed to Georgia Saturday night.

His spokesman, Elizabeth Alexander said, “At the request of Georgian president (Mikhail) Saakashvilli, Chairman Biden is heading to Georgia this weekend. He is leaving this evening and will be there Sunday.”

No other Senators are traveling with him.

In a statement, his office said he will meet President Saakashvili, Georgian Prime Minister Lado Gurgenidze, and U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Tefft. He also will meet with residents who fled the fighting.

Biden said in the statement, “I am going to Georgia this weekend to get the facts first-hand and to show my support for Georgia’s people and its democratically-elected government. I look forward to reporting to my colleagues in the Senate and on the Foreign Relations Committee, as well as the Administration, about what I learn.”
