Quietly unveiled late last month, the proposal is part of a flurry of domestic intelligence changes issued and planned by the Bush administration in its waning months. They include a recent executive order that guides the reorganization of federal spy agencies and a pending Justice Department overhaul of FBI procedures for gathering intelligence and investigating terrorism cases within U.S. borders.

...law enforcement agencies would be allowed to target groups as well as individuals, and to launch a criminal intelligence investigation based on the suspicion that a target is engaged in terrorism or providing material support to terrorists. They also could share results with a constellation of federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies, and others in many cases.

Criminal intelligence data starts with sources as basic as public records and the Internet, but also includes law enforcement databases, confidential and undercover sources, and active surveillance.

It seems any citizen, right here in the good old USA, can become an investigative target based upon raw suspicion; and suspicion may be found from sources as innocuous as public records, "the internet" (That's kind of broad eh? Know anybody that uses the net?) or confidential tips. Want to know a little secret? I have encountered an awful lot of "confidential tips", almost always attributed to unknown and unidentified "concerned citizens" in the various warrant affidavits and departmental reports I have had to deconstruct over the years, and more often than not those "confidential tips" are planted or instigated by the officers or agents working the case. Go figure. Who could of predicted that?

Many do not know that Cheney, several years ago,
commissioned a report.

He wanted to know-
Given the projected population growth
and the remaining non renewable and renewable resources, et al
what would the world look like in twenty years?

The scientists came back with the grim statement
that in order for life to be maintained on the planet
as we know it, the world population would have to be reduced
by two thirds.

I copied the doc and have it somewhere on my HD.

3. If Bush/Cheney had to be defending themselves in Impeachment Hearings

they wouldn't have the time, nor the credibility, to be foisting more of this fascist crap on the nation.

If Dems in Congress even give this the time of day, much less actual formal consideration, it will be even
clearer that apparently THIS kind of draconian fascist policies are what Nancy meant by "other important
business" needing attention (as a reason to not impeach).

5. Nervous Nancy

I'm so totally disappointed in "I will never impeach" Nancy. She whined that impeaching the most impeachable murdering thief in history would divide the nation. So what? The repugs didn't worry about that when they impeached Clinton for Not starting a bogus war, based on lies, that cost four thousand lives and bankrupted the economy. For that matter, we Need to divide. What's wrong with that? I don't want to be shoulder to shoulder with fascist idiots. The Deadocrats Used to be the Opposition party. 4. Controlled by Fear

As long as we allow ourselves to be controlled by fear stemming from a national trauma, we will lose more and more of our freedoms.

For seven years, corrupt politicians have controlled us with fear, using our national trauma for their own rotten ends. It's time to waken from the nightmare.
