Surprise, surPRISE!!! Right Wing Rag Plain Dealer gives Corsi free publicity for his "book".
http://blog.cleveland.com/openers/2008/08/cleveland_native_jerome_corsi.html

The worst part about this swill is that it's pretty much what I said it is: free, unfettered and unquestioned publicity for a book chock-full to its stenchy rim with lies, opinions posing as facts, speculation posing as truth and just plain worse-than-vanity-press writing. I mean, does anyone at the PD have any SHAME? To anyone with a damned brain stem, this man is a proven con artist and a wholesale liar funded by the same fear-happy nutjobs that prevented progress in 2004.

There's only two bits of the Unfit for Publication response, and both on miniscule details about his life.

Not only that, there's a link for WingNutDaily, the arch-right site that Corsi writes for. Also a link to FightTheSmears. The difference is that one site publishes the unvarnished facts . . . and the other side is worldnetdaily.

What I find most disturbing about all of this is that even though Corsi is a discredited garbage hawker, even though his PR appearances (100 so far, according to the article) have fallen flat on their face . . . people are STILL going to buy this book and people are STILL going to listen to this guy. I know lying isn't illegal, but COME on. Are we really doing enough to get our message, the TRUTH, out there?

Sometimes, I just don't think our machine is doing enough.

To Mr Scorpio's early point . . . will America REALLY be too stupid to elect Obama? I find it disgusting that after 8 years of Bewsh and 20 years of economic and worldwide damage by his pops and St. Ronnie, Obama doesn't have a double digit lead at this point, I really do. I'm really starting to lose faith that the citizens of this nation are going to wake their asses up in time for November. Articles that more or less say "well, I know people say you leave a trail of slime wherever you walk, but we're going to give you free publicity anyway" . . . people by and large still trust the press. Some even still think the media is "liberal". There has to be some sense of credibility and objectivity. Did that all but completely get lost in the shuffle somehow?

It's patently dangerous that this charlatan is being given the keys to the media kingdom even though his last book has been thouroughly discredited. Do you blame the media for publicizing this shite, the Democratic PR machine for simply not being as ruthless or as hellbent as the Repuke machine is or the people for choosing to swallow it yet again?

1. This happened in 2004 - Kerry gave every media outlet point by point refutations by official NAVAL
records and eyewitness accounts and most of corpmedia STILL gave the swift lies more ink and more airtime every day for 3 months. It is a DELIBERATE part of the strategy to mislead the electorate.

2. The media is very tightly controlled in this country
They want their full-on fascism and they want it now, to the extent that the corporatist Democrats are painted as too radical. There's only so much the PR machine can do in the face of that firewall. I'd say go for ruthless and hellbent, but that's an unpopular position in a party full of afficionados of the "high road" and "our better angels" and other such crapola.

I don't blame the people, the people are mainly too busy scrambling for anything that trickles down so they may stay afloat for another month. It's not stupidity so much as being so distracted they can't sit and think for the five minutes necessary to realize they are being had.
