Edwards: Fox "Corporate moutpiece of Republicans" "We'll deal with Fox News on OUR TERMS"
http://blog.johnedwards.com/story/2007/3/9/20352/75748

Now it's time for Democrats to stand together and send a clear message to Roger Ailes, Fox News and all the rest of them: bias isn't balance, but turning tables is fair.

The truth is, Fox News can "report" whatever they want. And when it works for us, we'll deal with them on our terms. But this campaign is about responsibility and accountability, and we need to send the message to Fox that if they want to be the corporate mouthpiece of the Republican Party more than they want to be an impartial news outlet, they shouldn't expect Democrats to play along.

Wish it weren't that way, but in light of Obama and Clinton not taking one stand on this and hoping this would blow up, as it did, I just have to wonder.

13. Bottom Line: Edwards is not afraid of Fox News.
Imagine what it would be like to have a President that speaks the truth, puts the needs of the people first, and is not 'owned' by anyone.

We could have that in Edwards.

The contrast with the Bush Administration would like day and night.

Every Democratic contender knows that Fox News is the fake news source and the mouthpiece for the Republican Party. They need to speak out like Edwards. And if they do not, we need to ask them some serious questions.

NOW let's put some Teeth in this, and have their BROADCAST LICENSE REVOKED for spreading Propaganda instead of reporting the news for the welfare of THOSE WHO OWN that License, the American people.

Their license should be revoked for perpetrating FRAUD.

They should come with a Disclaimer.

I said years ago, when we first started Takebackthemedia.com that ALL DEMOCRATS should REFUSE to appear on FOX.

26. Edwards, Obama and Richardson deserve credit
First, Obama refused to give Fox News any interviews because of what they did with the "madrassa" story. Second, Edwards delivers the final blow by boycotting the Faux Debate and declaring an open war against the next work. The cherry on top: Richardson announcing he was not going to attend the debate.

A huge victory for true fairness in media.

30. f* word
Why do people here feel the need to speak so crudely? My teenage daughter is interested in progressive issues, but the language here is unneccesarily vulgar. I would not want her to think that to make a point, one must accent their point with such talk.

31. I have to stick up for the Rev and say please don't be the speech police.
There is no language filter in place here. People can use the language they see fit. And yes, that means you also have the right to comment on that. I would also argue that vulgarity is in the eyes of the beholder. I am not offended by the f-bomb. Running a quick search of your posts, I have read where you are offended by language, think that talking about the 2004 election makes us look like tin-foil hat conspiracy theorists and were offended by a signature line cartoon- all in nine posts. Read through all of Du and become familiar with the tone and areas you like best. Some parts of DU aren't for everyone. There are some places that you might enjoy.

And, in case no one else has said it yet, welcome to DU. :hi:

50. Fox News is telling news organizations not to get involved in the Nevada Democratic Caucus
And John's not their only target. Tonight Fox News Vice President David Rhodes is telling news organizations not to get involved in the Nevada Democratic Caucus because of "radical fringe" groups - meaning grassroots Democrats (that would be you) - who objected to Fox's long history of spreading Republican propaganda at the expense of Democratic leaders.

Since ABC and NBC are hardly fair to us, do you think that they (the other networks) will fall into line with this and enforce their bush-message-discipline?

63. Why isn't this on the front page anymore?
Edwards statement gets better every time I read it.

More from Edward'e email:

Fox News has already proven they have no intention of providing "fair and balanced" coverage of any Democrat in this election.

In recent weeks they have run blatant lies about Senator Obama's background. And Fox was only too happy to give Ann Coulter a platform to spew more hate a few days after her bigoted attack on Senator Edwards and the gay community.

Now it's time for Democrats to stand together and send a clear message to Roger Ailes, Fox News and all the rest of them: bias isn't balance, but turning tables is fair:

SNIP

The truth is, Fox News can "report" whatever they want. And when it works for us, we'll deal with them on our terms. But this campaign is about responsibility and accountability, and we need to send the message to Fox that if they want to be the corporate mouthpiece of the Republican Party more than they want to be an impartial news outlet, they shouldn't expect Democrats to play along.
