Let's talk some more about "holding cells" for protestors at the DNC

I first read this here at DU
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3804270

then went and found another news source...

http://neighbors.denverpost.com/viewtopic.php?p=289248#p289248

what even scarier is the comments.
People think that the protestors are just dirty hippies and deserve the treatment they get (uh, I guess Naomi wolf was right after all) This is really outrageous. So the Rush followers are going there to start a riot, get the peaceful protestors all riled up, so they all get arrested. The rupubs show their voter reg carda dn are let go, the dems ...well what will happen to them? get dissapeared? get out on "the list"...followed, tapped, etc...?

The really scary thing is while speaking to my mom and bringing this up (she's a hillary follower, who can't accept Obama because her southern upbringing is making her color blind, at least that's what I think) She refuses to vote - and I keep pointing out the ways that will just screw us even worse. She can't worry about what happens because her one vote means nothing...the old - If I claim no responsibility, I have no power and nobody can touch me - delusion

I told her about this and she actually said "well, you don't know, THEY (meaning terrorists) have infiltrated everywhere.." I told her to stop believing that and realize it is the rethugs that are planning this whole thing to get any opposition locked up and begin sweeping for us...
she says I shouldn't speak of this around my kids, especialy my 16 yr old...because he dosn't need to worry (read : don't SCARE the boy!). I said he sure does need to know exactly what is coming down the pike. Being aware of it will mean being able to act in the right way at the right time.

needless to say we got off the phone quickly after that exchange

but still...how can people be SO brainwashed? it is so ...creepy :scared:

1. "...because he dosn't need to worry."
This sounds like she agrees, but keep it on the down low. That's what's weird.

2. I think she is scared for us all

but really doesn't want to wrap her mind around the fascism that is blatantly running the show. My son is in ROTC, and he is more inclined to be a leader of the resistance at this point (he knows not to sign anything and believes he needs to watch his ass - I love my little liberal!)

She is afraid I am going to give my kids nightmares by telling them the truth.

3. It's scary because what happened in Nazi Germany could very well happen here.
The population is primed to accept a fascist state with little or no resistance, and some argue it's already here. These "holding facilities" are extremely disturbing. Barbed wire? That's used to hold contain cattle, and was also used extensively in the death camps during the Holocaust. And the use of the word, 'detainment' several times in an article I read about this also bothered me, especially since that word has come to mean the suspension of all human rights under Bushco. This is just fucking wrong. No doubt there will be provacateers amongst the crowds to help stir things up. I'm sickened by it, but don't know what to do.

5. yep...that's a real conversation killer...compare our regime to the Nazi's
...and the way they just took control and fanned the people's fears all at once and slowly everyone relinquished control and surrendered discernment to the Government...and there they were!

and when they come for the arbs, we say nothing
and when they come for the hippies, say nothing
and when they come for the commies, say nothing
and when they come fro the non-christians, pagans, and new agers...etc

and then there will be nobody to say anything when they come for you

fucking scary shit for sure, seeing this in Denver is just mind blowing!
