Phelps won by .01 seconds. Thats one hundredth of a second.

Edited to fix the time differential. Haven't head if he broke the WR yet

10. The other guy drifted into the wall, Phelps took another stroke
It was a quick stroke and it won for him. It was his Lesek moment. Phelps was really catching up in the last 2 strokes though, thats what gave him a chance.

It doesn't depend on a judges call or a human timer's reaction time. There is no way either one of those would have been accurate enough to time this race.

Those things are automatically timed. There is no human judgement involved. I doubt it will stand up, but you never know. Sore losers.

just disappointed. that was an amazing finish! if you watched the race, did you really think phelps was going to win? i couldn't believe it! wow! what a race! i can't help but feel sorry for the 2nd place swimmer - it was sooooooooooo close!
