Conyers Calls Committee Back from Summer Recess to Investigate Suskind Allegations

From Impeachment Left to Right - http://impeachmentlefttoright.blogspot.com/2008/08/conyers-calls-committee-back-from.html

The 110th Congress isn’t over. We’re starting our work, and then we’re doing it in a period where the Congress is in recess. I’m calling everybody back. -- John Conyers on DemocracyNow, Aug.14, 2008.

UPDATE: Reader reports that Conyers now says he did not call committee back, but only "staff," .......

PS. I need to read another Conyers bash like I need to beat in another troll to death!

3. Good news
I expect the Republicans to whine. Let 'em. Good fodder for election ads by Dem challengers.

4. I suppose it's easy to call staff back to work because they're the hired help. Now, getting our
Democratic and Republican ELECTED-type committee members back might be a bit of a chore.

Anybody heard any inside stuff on Pelosi's take on this bit of drama?

6. Conyers has a forty year itch, thanks to Nixon's enemies list!
He knows from way back how the Rs operate! He is not ignoring any evidence that comes to light.

17. Me too! Although I don't think it is bashing to demand
these Congresscritters do their job. It is more like righteous indignation

18. Reasonable people disagree on how, of course.
I am very far removed from working in Congress, or any situation where
I have to navigate with 100s of people and opinions, not to mention opposition.

If I thought I could do better, I'd seek the office.
Too much back seat driving is a road hazard, in my view.

20. On vital issues like this one Congress should always be reminded in
the strongest terms to do its duty. If they can not or will not then they should quit and support someone who can. IMHO this Congress is full of a bunch of self-seeking opportunists who long ago should have joined with Kucinich in a spirit of cooperation instead of viewing him as a threat to "their" turf.

9. Quite a few, I expect. That's how its done, you realize.
Followed by a subpoena, .... You know the drill, right!

This is a democracy still (if you are a Congressman), and the idea is to adhere to the rules of democracy!

10. Yes, indeed. Adhere to the rules of democracy while the opposition dismantles the democracy.
I fail to see how endlessly investigating, writing sternly-worded letters, issuing subpoenas that are ignored, and promising not to impeach a President who is destroying our democracy, constitute adhering to the rules of democracy.

But, I'm waiting to be persuaded.

Now I see why Obama chose HOPE as his battle cry. Really it's all we seem to have left. No checks and balances, no congressional oversight, no constitution. Just hope.

11. 2006 knocked ouit the culture of corruption, Corrupt Bastards Club is next!!
2008 will finish the job started in 2006.
In 2006 the Rs lost EVERY Senate seat!
The framers of the Constitution did it right,
and the system works, if you adhere to the principles.

Or, we could take a wrecking ball to civilization as we know it,
and knock ourselves back to the stone age with violence.
