7. This guy seems pretty defensive - but maybe that's to be expected from
being laughed at for years.

I actually think that with the hundreds/thousands of reports over the years, there's probably an animal out there that has been able to stay away from humans for the most part. With the increased expansion of housing and clearcutting, I think we will be driving more previously unknown species out of their habitats.

We'll see.

8. Interesting.
"I actually think that with the hundreds/thousands of reports over the years, there's probably an animal out there that has been able to stay away from humans for the most part."

Amazing how it can stay away from humans for the most parts, except for the hundreds/thousands who haven't got cameras.

39. From Jerusalem to the Great Smokies Nat'l Park...
"Amazing how it can stay away from humans for the most parts, except for the hundreds/thousands who haven't got cameras."

From the city of Jerusalem (eight new species of insects discovered in '06) to the great Smokies National Park (researchers in the Great Smokies national park found at least 890 species entirely new to science in 2006), new species are being discovered quite often, so I'm not too amazed that many forms of life can go unseen for years...

We're only human...

41. I don't know.
"How often are they 8 foot simians?"

I don't know. Clever, rhetorical question?

That aside...

However, weren't multiple thousands of jungle gorillas just recently discovered in central Africa-- tripling the previously thought population?

Maybe not eight feet-- but closer to it that we are.

That would be correct
:eyes:

I don't thing I emphatically and precisely stated I didn't know how many eight foot insects there are. Using common sense, one could quite easily infer I was answering to the question posed: "How many eight foot tall 'species'...".

Wow. have fun pretending those new gorillas don't exists (since we do seem to be playing "Let's Make Stupid Inferences" and all...)

47. The answer is zero.
The answer is that none of the new insect species found turned out to be 8 foot simians.

"Let's Make Stupid Inferences"

I think your argument that 'since people have discovered new insect species, therefore Bigfoot is a logical plausibility' took Olympic gold in that particular event.

You're claiming to have a Bigfoot in a freezer...something most people consider ridiculous. There's a certain stereotype about people who believe in and see things like Bigfoot, UFOs, etc ( I know because I'm one of those people). You'd figure that to give the best first impression you'd at least not want to look your best. Or at least put on a shirt.

The whole thing is another Tom Biscardi hoax anyway so really...it doesn't matter I guess.

(CNN) -- A policeman and a former corrections officer say that on Friday they will unveil evidence of what they claim is their biggest find ever: the body of Bigfoot.

Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, a pair of Bigfoot-hunting hobbyists from north Georgia, say they found the creature's body in a wooded area and spotted several similar creatures that were still alive.

The carcass of the furry half-man, half-ape is 7 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs more than 500 pounds, they say. However, the two are not disclosing the exact location of their discovery to protect the remaining creatures.

Tom Nelson, chairman of the biology department at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, said he's "pretty skeptical" the world will feast its eyes on a new species Friday.

"That would certainly rock mammalogy," joked Nelson, who specializes in the study of mammals. "I see a research grant in my future."

Whitton and Dyer plan to unveil what they say is DNA and photo evidence of the discovery in Palo Alto, California, in conjunction with a group called Searching for Bigfoot Inc.

A photograph on that group's Web site shows what appears to be the body of a large, hairy creature with an ape-like face, stuffed into a large freezer.

According to a written release, the two announced the discovery on an Internet radio show, "Squatch Detective," several weeks ago. iReport.com: Do you believe in Bigfoot?

"The only person we would allow to come down and verify the body was 'the Real Bigfoot Hunter,' Tom Biscardi," Dyer said, referring to Searching for Bigfoot's CEO, who has been looking for the elusive, legendary creature in the United States and Canada since 1971.

Whitton is a Georgia police officer who is on administrative leave after being shot in the wrist during a pursuit. Dyer is a former prison guard.

DNA tests on the body have begun, said the statement, and "extensive scientific studies" will be done on the body by scientists, including a molecular biologist, an anthropologist and a paleontologist.

Nelson, the university professor, acknowledged that new species of animals have been discovered in recent decades and that, in science, "we always acknowledge the possibility of something new."

But he said that even in north Georgia, home to the Blue Ridge Mountains and the foot of the Appalachian Trail, it stretches the imagination to think a family of 7-foot-tall creatures could have eluded hunters, hikers and creeping development until now.

"To the average person, these places just seem like extreme wilderness where you'll find lions and tigers and bears," he said. "The reality is that you're never more than a mile from a road."

The group says the animal is male, has reddish hair and "blackish-gray" eyes and human-like feet, hands and teeth

Me n Earl were sittin on the back porch suckin on toothpicks, drinkin grape nehi's when I turned to Earl an saz:,

"hey Earl?"
"yeah?"
"why don't we take the dogs an go huntin"
"ah-ri't"

So we grabbed the dogs, and went into the woods...that's when we found bigfoot. It was already dead, the dogs were circling it and whizin on it...we shoo'd em off..I tolled Earl, keep a bead on that while I poke it with a big stick, shoot it if it twitches...Earl said "ah-ri't"

I poked at it fer quite sometime, made sure it was dead...it really stunk, worse then Earl, that's sayin a lot.

"Hey Earl?"
"Yeah?"
"I thinks we got us a bigfoot"
"everything is big on it,not just the feet, get a look at those..."
"never mind that Earl, We could get rich with a find like this. We have to get this home so we can sell it to science or somthing"

We stood there trying to figure out how we gonna get this to the house...Earl saz: "say, I have a wench on the ol Chevy, think we can drive it up chere and drag it home?" I said "ah-ri't"

We threw some leaves on it, and went back to get Earl's Chevy flat bed pick-up it has a wench.

By the time we got it home it was gettin dark, so we hid it on the back porch under a tarp. Almost got caught when Ethel says "What the hell is that smell?" I said it was Earl...She believed it, went back inside the house....
