Conyers:An Apology for Libby?
I read with dismay yesterday's Wall Street Journal editorial decrying "the Libby Travesty" suggesting that "Bush owes (Libby) a pardon, and an apology."

The Journal's editorial board would have you believe that all Libby did was "rebut the lies that Mr. Wilson was telling."

What Libby actually did was substantially weaken our national security and intelligence capabilities by exposing an intelligence agent, and the cover for many other agents, who were working on nuclear proliferation in the Middle East.

It is outrageous that the Wall Street Journal would parrot the claim by right wing blowhards that Ambassador Wilson lied by exposing the Niger fabrications.

Wilson actually did what any real patriot would do. In fact, he did what the CIA asked him to do. He looked into the claims of Niger uranium sales to Iraq and told the truth about these bogus stories.

Clearly the CIA shared Wilson's conclusions because they demanded that the White House take this claim out of the State of the Union speech. Clearly the White House shared Wilson's conclusions because they publicly apologized for including those sixteen words in the speech.

What Wilson did was tell the truth about Niger. What Libby did was repeatedly lie about exposing a CIA agent.

Wilson served to warn us about a war we never should have fought. Libby served to undermine our national security.

The Wall Street Journal had it all wrong.

They owe us an apology for not being able to distinguish honest reporting from its unbending support for the administration.

10. Conyers and Waxman.
Those two boys are rocking.

Next Friday is going to be the most feared day for those White House grub worms in the last six years.

It's their worst nightmare come true.
