Apocal-what?
(someone asked in another thread if anyone ever thought if there was a possibility of ever living in a post apocalyptic society)

One mans apocalypse is another mans garden.

Everyone is waiting either for the great big boom or the great big drop, but for me, as someone once said, "the devil is in the details" or "the devil creeps in on kittens paws". We won't know it until it's to late.

Each and every day something comes out to show us how much of our rights are being taken away and as a result how each of us in very subtle ways change our habits to conform to the new daily set of rules thrust down upon us.

They read our mail and email, they listen to our phone calls, they take away habeas corpus, they remove fair trials, they imprison us without warrant or evidence, they can condemn us with out witness or proof.

Gas at the pump is going back up. Our air, food and water is poisoned. We can't travel without being subject to embarrassing searches, invasions of our privacy or restrictions on the amount of water we can bring on a plane.

We are told to do nothing, ask nothing, and not help in anyway with our nation that has been at war for 6 years, Yes, remember Afghanistan started in the late fall early winter of 2001.

We live in an era where we are purposely kept in the dark.

Do we really have to wait for the apocalypse? As far as our way of life, it has already happened. or are you not paying attention? Or are you just believing everything that the TV news feeds you?

To paraphrase a lyrical poem from the 60's "The apocalypse will not be televised".

1. With all due respect, I don't think illegal wire taps and idiotic airport screening qualifies...
...as "apocalyptic".

2. As i stated in my post...
"One mans apocalypse is another mans garden."

I'm talking about our way of life and the rights guaranteed by our constitution. So with those very obvious violations of our 4th amendment right and our basic civil liberties, I consider it apocalyptic when in reference to the United States.

When the system by which we live and breath is termed antiquated or "quaint" by our government, I then believe that the term apocalyptic is very apt upon our form of government when it is slowly being transformed into a modern version of fascism light.

Like I said in my post, "the devil creeps in on kittens paws".

So the trampling of our rights, to me is the first little bits regarding my "devil in the details" comment, that will make up a larger picture.

I also said, "Everyone is waiting either for the great big boom or the great big drop", which I so do not believe how it will come. One day we will wake up and it will be here, but not a one of us will say a thing, because it will be more of the same and we as a citizenship will just give over to it. It's apocalypse by a thousand cuts or a thousand drops of water, take your pick, it still gets you the same results.

3. You're not talking about an "apocalypse" of any useful definition
None of the events you reference even begin to approach it.

4. Here's a suggestion, if you don't like it, write your own
Have a nice day.

5. Thank you for the suggestion
But I think I'll stick with the accepted meaning of words and avoid the problems inherent in writing one's own definitions.

Take care.

6. Ah, in other words you prefer to criticize rather than create.

7. Yes, I prefer not to create my own definitions for words that already have accepted meaning
It generally avoids the kind of discussion we've been having.
