This may have already been discussed, re: Cokie Roberts on "This Week"
Seems Cokie has a problem with Obama going to Hawaii to visit his grand ma. Says he should have gone to Myrtle Beach instead.

Just what the fuck is wrong with this country? What the fuck is wrong with Cokie Roberts?

What a dense idiot.

Are these not the same people who "convinced" the masses that an illiterate, out-of-touch, brain-dead, make-believe "cowboy" was someone the average Joe wanted to have a beer with?

Why are these mother fuckers still polluting the public's air waves?

17. Seriously?
I might buy exotic - never been, but boy oh boy does it look gorgeous. But dangerous?

I can guarantee there are plenty more dangerous places to be found in any of the continental 48.

And it hasn't been foreign since 1959.

10. She was on This Week a Sunday program with G. Stephanopoulos.
He was on vacation and Jake Tapper subbed for him.

She is a blithering idiot. I don't know why they give her a paycheck for saying stuff like that...

6. This is what passes for discourse in Cokie's world
Hawaii, where Obama grew up, is "exotic" and "dangerous" to Cokie's sensibilities, which are, of course, the exact same sensibilities of all good, true and real Americans. And since Obama would rather spend time with the friends and family of his formative years, instead of in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (where the aforementioned gt&r Americans reside, summer and hobnob), it's pretty clear in Cokie's mind that Obama is not a gt&r American.

Nauseating. :puke: See?

8. DUH! His Grandma LIVES in Hawaii doesn't she???? That reminds me of this story...
" Walking down the street one night, someone found Nasruddin crawling on his hands and knees under a lamp post near his own front door..

Nasruddin, what's wrong? What are you doing here?

Looking for my house key. I can't get in until I find it..

Oh? Let me help you.

The friend joined Nasruddin in the search, and together they combed all the area under the lamp, but could find nothing.

That's strange, Nasruddin. It's just not here. Are you sure this is where you dropped it?

Here? No, of course not. I dropped the key over there in the shadows by the door.

But - Nasruddin, if you lost the key there, why are you looking here under the lamp?

Well, it's very simple. Over there it's so dark I can't see a thing, and here it's as bright as day!

16. Exactly. He'd go visit her no matter where she lives, or does Cokie
suggest that the grandmother should make that long trip herself to Myrtle Beach to avoid criticism from snooty, arrogant busybodies like herself?

She portrays Hawaii as "exotic" and "dangerous" to fit with the RW narrative of Obama being "elite" and not being like "one of us."

Of all the insipid talking heads out there, she is one of the most despicable.

9. Cokie pretends to know how the little people think
She thinks they think Hawaii is exotic. Sure, 40 years ago when a trip to Hawaii was the price on Truth or Consequences, and Greg Brady had that bad luck charm that got him knocked unconscious while surfing, yeah, Hawaii was a little exotic. But now it's just like a Carnival Cruise. From where Cokie sits, with safaris to Nepal and Antarctica, all the little people's vacations must seem about the same, so it would be hard to tell Hawaii from Las Vegas from anywhere else that could or could not be exotic in the little people's eyes.

21. Isn't Cokie's family from Louisiana?
Has she ever visited there? Kind of, you know, French down there, isn't it? Wouldn't, say, Arkansas or Mississippi be more of a real American destination?
