as refrigerators aren't cheap. At least you can take some comfort in if the one that went out was from old age the new one will prolly pay for itself in only a few years in electric savings. A few years back we bought a new one that replaced an older one and we were surprised at how much less energy the new one used. Don't remember the exact amount but our 'lectric bill went down a few bucks.

I looked at the thread and sure don't see the problem. I thought I saw quite a few posts about who won the superbowl right after the game. Great to hear Phelps won - hope he does well!

Anyhow the thread that got locked seemed to develop a life of its own rather than reflecting the actual post....

God forbid anyone watch a sporting event sheerly for appreciation of the sport. It's ALL about winning and losing and who the fuck wants to watch for any other reason? Just remember that hordes of vigilantes will assemble in self-righteous high dudgeon and excoriate anyone not in obedience to that 'polite request.' (Naww... no demand. Not really.)

I gotta love the feeding frenzy of the 'polite' folks. Self-righteousness is a potent drug.

...I watched the first swim last night, having already seen your post. I only realized right before they dived in that I already knew the outcome. And you know what? I was still on the edge of my seat. That was a great contest, very exciting, and worth watching even when I knew who was going to win.
