Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Go and sin no more...
Once again I am having to take a hiatus from DU. I am sooooo sick of the outraged moralists who so harshly judge Democrats for sins of the flesh, especially since they are consensual acts with (once again) consenting adults.

It isn't our business.

As for the accusation that the woman involved was "unqualified" for the job given her, my question is, "Did she do a good job?" If so, then that accusation is moot. If not, then "unqualified" is justified.

It is not our business to be outraged on Elizabeth Edwards' behalf. She obviously knows about and has dealt with the problem.

None of us knows what goes on in a marriage or the whys and wherefores of that marriage. It isn't our business to judge or comment.

For the record, if you ever read the New Testament, Jesus was far more lenient with folks who allowed their physical passions to carry them away from good judgement than he was to the "money changers." You know, like the mortgage companies, banks, and credit card companies of today...

6. I was thinking the same thing.
I understand he performed public service. But, he is still a man. He put his pants on one leg at a time, just like me. He has the ability to make the same mistakes as I do. He had an affair! His wife and family had moved passed it! Why don't we?

8. Because millions of us trusted him and love Elizabeth and feel betrayed...
That takes time to forget and even longer to forgive. Yes, he has the right to fuck up... we all do but it still sucks that he did. He was supposed to be better than that; just as I am supposed to be better than that... and you as well. Of course he's human but right is right and what he did was a slap in the face... not an unforgivable or unforgettable wrong but one that will take a while to absorb and move past. Many people care deeply about this family and that's a blessing but just like any family... hard issues take time to digest.

7. What angers me is that he (and Elizabeth) still took the chance and
entered the race, knowing it was possible this could surface and harm the Democrats' chances during a campaign/election.

I'm pissed as a Democrat. As a human being, I don't judge him.

9. the chrsit really did have some great sayings that he lived by -
that is one of them - with the adultery thing and the stoning of mary madeline - he prevented it is the way the story tells it - seems most of the stories are only read but not practiced by bible people or even faux religious or righteous people - It is shameful enough without the world knowing - I will put them in my God jar

11. Just and FYI, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, in the New Testament to point the
finger at Mary Magdalene as having been the woman "taken in adultery."

For whatever reason (and there are lots of theories) that was an invention of the Catholic Church when the Catholic Church was the only Christian Church.

Another or my favorits is: "Judge not lest ye also be judged."

19. that is the glass house one - kind of like edwards saying what he
said about clinton only to turn around and do it himself - that is the standard for most people who judge so harshly - either they have or they will - never say never

10. for the umpteenth time. not sin of flesh. only people arguing for edwards use sex
EVERYONE pissed at edwards is IF he won primary he put run to whitehouse in jeapordy. this has been said so many many times and still.... the argument comes to the sex. NO ONE cares he fucked around. not our business. we do care he wanted his affair and the whitehouse knowing if found it would lead to failure for dems.

see.... not about the sex

but keep arguing it for your own illusional hysteria

14. Whatever. It is about sex. Because the (hypocritical) puritanical mindset in this
country says SEX IS BAD! Ergo, if you get caught having SEX outside of marriage, YOU are BAD. VERY VERY BAD!

The truth is that sex between two consenting adults is PRIVATE (unless of course said two consenting adults are exhibitionist). Whether or not those involed are married. To each other or to other people.

BTW, if you don't care that he "fucked around" then your argument is like going to sea in a sieve. It's not that he had sex, it's that he had sex...

15. whatever. what a wonderful way to argue. obviously the sex is not private
regardless how much you demand that it is. people can say until they are blue in the face it doesnt matter and it does. edwards knew this. and he still ran. knowing if he was caught it would lose the election. how stupid is that.

it shouldnt be that way. it is that way.

that is the reality.

as much as you dont want it to be that way matters not

16. Isn't it just as hypocritical to castigate Republicans for their sexual peccadilloes...
as DU so often does, but then insist its a personal matter when the person at fault is a Democrat?

13. Aside from the infidelity, John Edwards has done just about everything right.
In fact, I think all the Democrats should sleep with John Edwards' mistress.

Maybe whatever it is she does will make better politicians out of them.

...confess on Sunday

...start anew on Monday.

Now that's cathartic.
