1. People only quote that when they want to protect people they like.
Most of the time it's "Heave away folks"

16. Funny, few people said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"
when Tim Russert died.

The stones came flying big, hard, fast and heavy.

2. That reminds me of a joke...
The punchline is,

"Honestly, mom, sometimes you can be the biggest drag."

6. People who 'lead', be it in church or politics are "set to a higher standard" ......
to "lead by example". We're all disappointed/the 'lessor' when we are disappointed by their transgressions.

10. By that standard Martin Luther King would not have much of legacy
if you discount the man because of his affairs.

17. People who look to "leaders" to behave in a certain manner
must have a pretty piss poor moral compass. I learned my morals from my parents and I don't need or want anybody's "examplary" lifestyle to emulate. I also don't need to come off like some self-righteous buffoon when somebody I don't even know and never will screws up.

15. This is politics, not Vacation Bible School.
Does "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" ring a bell, Bible scholar?

This is politics, and it is about accountability. Jesus stopped an execution, he didn't stop condemnation for one who had a moral failing.

No one is calling for the death penalty for John Edwards for adultery. If they were, your response might have some relevance.
