For the first time, I can see a President McCain.
Edited on Fri Aug-08-08 11:30 PM by tsuki
I have watched, during my lifetime, Democrats bring down Gary Hart, Michael Dukakis, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, Wesley Clark and John Kerry.

I don't care if Edwards fucked 72 virgins. He would have made an outstanding AG. He would have worked for the working people of the US.

When Vitter is caught with dirty diapers, he gets applause.

Democrats rip and tear because no one is GOOD enough.

Get used to it, President McCain.

1. Edwards isn't running against McCain. Obama is. I'm not following your reasoning.
This isn't Obama's scandal. Get a grip.

2. Have you noticed how we have all these reality challenged people posting
Edwards crap like somebody really cares? This information is two years old. Some people need to get a life already. It's a done deal and everyone has moved on except DU.

9. I think the OP is referring to...
...the hypocrisy factor that affects the whole party. We on DU used the Vitter affair, the Larry Craig deal and countless other sex scandals to attack just about any Republican on the basis of their party's socially conservative words versus their members' morally compromised actions. We did a lot of finger pointing on that score.

Now, with John Edwards (and Elliot Spitzer, and other Dems ensnared in badness) we are opening the door to the same criticisms by the conservative punditry. And, the Republicans seem to be a lot better at twisting these things around and pointing them back at our candidate, who has nothing to do with this particular scandal.

I was an Edwards man before he dropped out of the race. I still think he'd be a primo AG. Vitter and Craig survived. I hope Obama will consider Edwards as an AG anyway.

3. Yep... what you said....
David "Diaper Dave" Vitter and Larry "Wide Stance" Craig still hold their heads high and act like they did nothing wrong and how *DARE* anyone ask them about it... hell, they even co-sponsored a 'sanctity of marriage' bill recently.

Where's the media focus and attention on them?

4. Get a grip. I tried to get a grip in 1980, 1984, 1988 and then had to
listen to all the BS from 1992 to 2000.

In 2004, I had to hear all the swiftboat garbage. Since then, Wesley Clark has been taken down for saying the absolute truth about McCain.

Edwards is the latest scandal.

But where do I hear about these scandal? From Democrats. Because no one is good enough.

Michael Dukakis would have been a great president, so would Gary Hart.

Repubicons throw it up there and Democrats finish the job.

7. I pray you are right. 1980 crushed me. When Ray-gun won over
Carter, that was unbelievable.

Then, every challenger we put up was taken out with a "scandal." And I really feel it was the Democrats that would not back their people.

12. I hear ya. These things still sting no matter how many years have passed.
Reagan stole that vote by undermining Carter's negotiations to free the hostages in Iran, while a complacent media heaped scorn on President Carter for advocating way back when what we have yet to summon up the national courage to do now. It was damn near as blatant as the election theft in 2000 and 2004, and just as effective and just as devastating for the nation.

13. Yes, but who sees it now. I was fighting Democrats who could not
pile on Carter fast enough. It hurt then; it hurts now.

14. Yes, it hurts bad after all these years.
But I'm gonna take my cue from the nominee: Not this time. If we work for it, we can make sure that promise is fulfilled.

(I get depressed too, so I'm not just blowing smoke here. But this can happen, with money and effort. This can happen.)

put up some dynamite candidates and something always goes south.
