2. Why, thank you.........
What an interesting anniversary to recall, and, if not for your reminder, I'd have forgotten.

I was in Bethel, Maine, hanging out and drinking with a bunch of friends at the Norseman Inn, no longer there, and we were all glued to the TV. When the sweaty Big Dick announced that he would resign the following day, we all cheered and cheered and finally believed our Constitution had prevailed.

Until, of course, Ford, working his end of the resignation deal, pardoned the Unindicted Co-Conspirator, and so that chapter will forever be an open wound in our nation's history and a disgraced President was able to slither away from certain criminal charges, proving that he was above the law, and we had to admit that our Constitution had not prevailed.

3. Fond memories....
the (what would now be called wing-nut) Chief Mate on the ship I was on announced that it was the worst day of his life.

If you ignore all the bad days of this Bush adminstration, it probably was.

4. I worked at National Airport
in Washington, D.C. I believe flights delayed boarding and pushing back from the gates for that speech. I know that all of us agents were in the room behind our ticket counter watching it, with someone at the door checking just in case a passenger came up. None did during the speech.

Every time I see that speech again, I'm afraid that when he gets to the part about not being a quitter he'll announce he's hanging in there, and everything will change and he won't have resigned after all.

Fortunately, it always plays out the same and he always resigns.
