THE PERSEIDS ARE COMING! That's...
a meteor shower, not Dr. Who's next enemy.

Monday night should be the peak, but our local observatory http://www.custerobservatory.org/ is having a little star party tomorrow night while there should be a flurry of early arrivals.

(I just hope it doesn't rain again.)

8. Here in the new New England Rain Forest, it's been thunderstorms...
...every afternoon and overcast each night at least
into the next morning, and today looks no different.
So I guess the Perseids will have to go on this year
without the New England viewing audience.

9. I'm planning on waking the kids to see it tomorrow morning at 5AM.
We have a big field nearby and very few street lights, so I am hoping we can see it.

10. They are an AWESOME thing to see.
I got to go to Crescent Lake in the Cascades in Oregon one year.
Laying on the beach, looking up at literally hundreds of streaks of light per minute, just an awesome sight.

Get away from any ambient light, and enjoy!
