For all you good folks who like to bash Texas...
I would like to point out to you we are more racially diverse than a lot of other states out there...

Here, let's put Texas up against Missouri and Michigan....And believe me Texas has become more diverse since 2000 and the 2010 census will show that. Oh, this is in response to no particular thread. It's just been a couple weeks since I saw any Texas bashing so I was going to go ahead and pre-empt it. :)

14. I know I know - every Texan reminds me of that when I bring it up
But the Bravado has gone beyond the anti-litter campaign, and has become some kind of violent rallying cry.

44. For real? I don't believe it.
Some douchbag wearing a goofy-assed cowboy outfit riding his F250 around Socal is going to put a Texas anti-littering sticker on his truck? You know next to the one that says "Cowboy UP!" (whatever the fuck that means) RIIIIIGGHT!

If it was an anti-littering campaign wouldn't it say "Don't Mess Up Texas" or "Don't Make Texas Messy"?

46. It is and it's a HUGE deal in the advertising world....
It's up there with "Got Milk?"

Twenty years after its introduction, the success and popularity of "Don’t Mess with Texas" has earned it a spot among the best advertising slogans ever. "Don’t Mess with Texas" has been awarded a plaque on the Madison Avenue Walk of Fame and a place in the Advertising Hall of Fame, a distinction given to only two slogans annually. 20. A mere technicality
Do you think his political career would have been so bright in CT? Texas is the farm league for political assholes looking to make it to the big leagues. Other places they would be rode out of town on a rail, in TX, they are listened to and applauded.

8. Racial diversity in a big state like Texas still leaves plenty of room for racism and segregation.
And you cannot talk your way out of the political legacy (excepting LBJ) that the place has plagued America with.

16. i think a lot of people don't answer the race question on the census
at least here in Michigan. I know the only answer I gave was that we (my family) were of the human race.

Also, Dearborn has the highest population of Arabs outside the middle east. Now there's a group that wasn't' even listed in your census data.

When I speak of diversity, I'm usually talking about different groups of people living, working and getting along amongst each other in a community. West Bloomfield for example, probably is one of the most diverse communities in the country. The numbers of Arabs, Jews, Asian, Blacks, Hispanics, along with whites, all living together in the same neighborhoods, going to the same schools, clubs, and shopping at the same stores.

21. The whole premise of this topic is flawed
The worthiness of a place is not defined by its ethnicity.

I will bash the South and Texas for other reasons like poor labor laws, excessive religiosity and preference for sports and NASCAR over reading books and self-improvement.

Oklahoma 357.9 84 0.235
Texas 2350.8 388 0.165
