We should all stop acting like serfs under a royal family and lock these fuckers up for treason.

2. The law is for little people.
See when the president murders someone, it's not illegal.

Give me a pitch fork and I'll make a citizen's arrest with you.

6. when these fuckers skate away with their plunder and murder the lesson will be
get away with whatever you can. the law is just a weapon to be used on your enemies.

its gangster mentality and todays kids will have grown up seeing it and knowing the law means nothing.

7. I've been wondering the same myself.
Maybe the population at large should go Robin Hood on them by robbing the greedy corporate bastards to give to the poor. Oh yes and if the opportunity presents itself, arrest them and put them on trial. Maybe we should be forming our own shadow government to achieve this.

8. Don't you know about the Hypocrisy Act of 2001?
It was passed very quietly in the days right after 9/11.

Basically, it says that members of Congress, or anyone in the Executive Branch, is above the law and need not abide by those laws, in order to protect the American people from themselves terrorists.

That's right. This is why the Democratic-controlled Congress has sat around with their thumbs up their ass the last two years letting monkey boy and Darth Dick get away with murder. (Literally.)

If anyone violates the terms of this act, the secret act vanishes, and doesn't apply to anyone, which leaves everyone open to the full ramifications of the law. It's OK to talk big and act like you're going to do something - in fact it's encouraged to keep the "little people" happy. But nothing can ever come of it.

:sarcasm:

9. I ask myself that all the time
They would arrest us for doing less - far less - than Bush and then brag about how tough they are on crime. Their hypocrisy would not bother them one bit.

And some in government will gives speeches about how 2 wrongs don't make a right and idiots will cheer that sentiment and exclaim how moral so and so is for saying that - all the while overlooking the fact that the very people telling them that 2 wrongs don't make a right really mean it's OK for them to commit a crime and get away with it...it's only wrong when you think you should have the same privilege. For no other reason than because they are in power...

And some idiots will speak on how people in power sometimes have to do certain things...because having power gives you absolution and immunity. That, somehow, people in power are different...better than them...and allowances must be made for those in power.

My favorite being - but if everyone thought they could break the law...society would be break down. Because everyone knows it's only when "the people" break the law that society breaks down and it is never harmed when those in power break the law. So "the people" must be kept in check....because somebody's got to follow the laws those in power make and break.

and since those in power need to look tough on crime (comically enough - to appeal to the very people who are expected to abide by the very same laws made by those who make and break the law with impunity) it's "the people" who are on the receiving end of that particular campaign slogan. (tough on crime)

But gee, we should follow the laws that those in government make and break because it makes us morally superior. ROFLMAO

I jest....somewhat. (Methinks Solly mocks. Oh,she mocks. How she mocks.)

12. Or how we've completely lost any moral authority in the world.
Have you noticed how thugs and dictators all over the world have only strengthened their grip over the last eight years, how they've become emboldened? There's not just one reason for this of course, but one of them is looking at the US and seeing that we basically do what we want, and form the rules around that, so why shouldn't they?

I started a thread on the Olympics and how we should keep our focus on how China is really using the event for its own dark agenda, and the responses I got centered on how we have no right telling China what to do since WE suck.

15. China is using the event politically. Bush looks exactly like the hypocrite he is
when he says anything at all about the human rights record of any country.

I think a lot of things along the way in America's history have put a shadow over any moral authority America is said to have - real or imagined. Bush has made it infinitely worse.

I agree that there is a sense of being emboldened because of the criminality of the US government - because everything can be thrown back in America's face when our government attempts to claim the higher ground. Bush has left America without a moral leg to stand on...so to speak.

Also, just because people acknowledge the US government's hypocrisy and are disgusted by it, that doesn't mean they don't care about what's happening in other countries...just means they are tired...oh so tired...of the lies....the hypocrisy....the shame. As am I.
